Freestyle I have no idea what to name this thread thread

Hopefully get some good constructive input on this one. And some tasteful smack talk lol.

Last winter I did a crapload of work to my RN hull. Mainly for flatwater. Here'a a link to my build thread if interested http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/88935-Roundie-refurbishing-on-the-cheap&highlight=

My dilemma is one shared by other riders as well. And there's a few levels to the dilemma.

I have taken my hull about as far as it can go in flatwater riding with my current set up and am looking at lighter hulls to take my riding and tricks further. AKA friggin fun on the water! I've decided to do the brappy stuff later. I just want a light hull for now.

I am considering selling my rn hull and put the money towards a new hull. One of the problems with this is that superjets rn, or sn seem to be losing a bit of value. I understand there's many levels of riders (which is awesome and helps out all of us) stock hulls, semi modded stock hulls, stock hulls with a crapload of mods, and then the wonderful ever growing world of the aftermarket freestyle hull.

Like said, I am considering selling my current hull, hood, nosepiece and put the cash towards a new hull, but I'm not sure what I can get out of it... I'd love to get $2,000 for it, but?... (when I sell the hull it will come with the rrp adj holds, tom 21 hood and nose piece. Other than that stripped cuz I need all the parts to go in the new hull)

It seems with all the new hulls coming out that the roundies and squares are dropping in value. Which I think overall is a good thing for our sport. But kinda sucks when trying to sell and trade up lol! But at the same time it seems like things are moving in a good direction overall and our sport is progressing and costs are coming down. I have to say hats off to everybody that innovates products, rides, buys new, used and everything else. Not to get off topic, but I love seeing the newest hulls selling and improving, because they will be used and up for sale soon, for other riders to snatch up and rip. And their old hulls will be passed down as well, so we all can continue moving up in the addicting world of freeride and freestyle. I think this holds true for all jet ski products.

Here's my hard truth in this situation. No sugar coating this one either. First off I'll start off by saying I wear the pants in my house! They just zip in the back.... I want a SF, but there is no way in he77 my wife is going to let me get one before she gets a better car and some other things I won't mention ( . )( . ) On that note, she works her ass off like I do and she is very deserving of said things. So... I am going the cheaper route for now, which I hope is a stepping stone. As of now I am planning on picking up a BOB Gen 2, because it fits my current finances and will help me progress and have some more fun on the water. Hoping to be able to go carbon. I also understand that by the time I get a bob then a sf later it will cost me more, but it is what it is and that's that. Booooo! Oh well. Still stoked!

So thoughts on a possible cost for my current hull?
Changing values of superjets?
Smack talk in general on anything I missed?

Thanks fellas!
Jay

The changing value of SJ hulls can't be helped. IMO you'll be lucky to get $2k for it.
It might be a good idea to save up some cash and be ready for a used deal when it pops up. I think you might be able to snag a used Freak for about 6k in the next year or so if you're ready with the money. Or a used carbon BOB for less.

sell your hull and watch us ride sitting at the beach ;0).......that way you stay out of trouble.

I have been in sales many years and i strongly believe in forcing yourself , if you put yourself in a position that you have to get another hull you will make it possible and you will get one, if you " could " you will just linger arround....

Heh, I might have to do that about getting a new motor.

You should , and you will be suprised how doors will open...... + its much easier to get started saving if you already have some to add to than starting from zero...

I'm doing the forcing it thing.

I do love my hull though. Damm it rides so nice and turns on a dime. But she's a bit heavy and skinny. Is that a contradiction in terms? I am going to save and see how far I can get by end of winter and see what hulls are available. I'll get something, because there's no way I can not have a ski. I still want to ride now, but need to save.

Matt. How big of a motor do you want after yours sells lol? This is the fun smack talk part lmao!

I do have some good jobs lined up... Fingers crossed.

I'm playing with the idea of getting an 8mm or 10mm ADA stroker built by Art. 948/970cc range.

It will be months before I have all the cash required to build this motor (if at all). Plus, I like my motors built by Art Gomez.
I've been talking to him and have a pretty good idea of what I want now.

I hear you though, the thought had crossed my mind repeatedly. Ultimately, I'd like to go in a different direction and work with Art.

You are the man for starting this thread! I have no idea how much to sell my RN for b/c the value is dropping so quickly it seems like. At least in my situation I'm going to have to sell my hull in order to get a my am hull so I can save. But I'm definitely willing to sacrifice a short winter for an awesome spring. We just have to hope these SN guys are upgrading!

SN > upgrade to RN ....mmh nope

I think with the prices coming down and affordable aftermarket Hulls its more like SN > Upgrade to aftermarket.....depending on what style you riding

Which as he mentioned tough times for the RN might be coming up

wait a couple months your SJ hull will be worth more... plus it seems up and down on the value of a hull

depends on whos pushing the kool aid down our throats....

RN hulls are way too pricey. This weekend Im picking up a couple squares for less than half what most RN hulls go for. Hell, less than 1/4th. I plan on skipping straight to an AM hull, RN just seems like a waste of money especially for a poor college kid like me.
