Hopefully get some good constructive input on this one. And some tasteful smack talk lol.
Last winter I did a crapload of work to my RN hull. Mainly for flatwater. Here'a a link to my build thread if interested http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/88935-Roundie-refurbishing-on-the-cheap&highlight=
My dilemma is one shared by other riders as well. And there's a few levels to the dilemma.
I have taken my hull about as far as it can go in flatwater riding with my current set up and am looking at lighter hulls to take my riding and tricks further. AKA friggin fun on the water! I've decided to do the brappy stuff later. I just want a light hull for now.
I am considering selling my rn hull and put the money towards a new hull. One of the problems with this is that superjets rn, or sn seem to be losing a bit of value. I understand there's many levels of riders (which is awesome and helps out all of us) stock hulls, semi modded stock hulls, stock hulls with a crapload of mods, and then the wonderful ever growing world of the aftermarket freestyle hull.
Like said, I am considering selling my current hull, hood, nosepiece and put the cash towards a new hull, but I'm not sure what I can get out of it... I'd love to get $2,000 for it, but?... (when I sell the hull it will come with the rrp adj holds, tom 21 hood and nose piece. Other than that stripped cuz I need all the parts to go in the new hull)
It seems with all the new hulls coming out that the roundies and squares are dropping in value. Which I think overall is a good thing for our sport. But kinda sucks when trying to sell and trade up lol! But at the same time it seems like things are moving in a good direction overall and our sport is progressing and costs are coming down. I have to say hats off to everybody that innovates products, rides, buys new, used and everything else. Not to get off topic, but I love seeing the newest hulls selling and improving, because they will be used and up for sale soon, for other riders to snatch up and rip. And their old hulls will be passed down as well, so we all can continue moving up in the addicting world of freeride and freestyle. I think this holds true for all jet ski products.
Here's my hard truth in this situation. No sugar coating this one either. First off I'll start off by saying I wear the pants in my house! They just zip in the back.... I want a SF, but there is no way in he77 my wife is going to let me get one before she gets a better car and some other things I won't mention ( . )( . ) On that note, she works her ass off like I do and she is very deserving of said things. So... I am going the cheaper route for now, which I hope is a stepping stone. As of now I am planning on picking up a BOB Gen 2, because it fits my current finances and will help me progress and have some more fun on the water. Hoping to be able to go carbon. I also understand that by the time I get a bob then a sf later it will cost me more, but it is what it is and that's that. Booooo! Oh well. Still stoked!
So thoughts on a possible cost for my current hull?
Changing values of superjets?
Smack talk in general on anything I missed?
Thanks fellas!
