Hey guys. Got the carbs on and test rode it. It feels absolutely no different. The E box blew a fuse a while back and when I checked it was full of water, I put a new starter relay and ignition coil in it. Figured it would be good. The grounds were rusty so I cleaned them tonight when I opened the box to check and see if anything was clearly wrong. The ski sounds like it's missing sometimes and sounds like it backfires, im not sure if its a backfire or not.

Lower your pop off to around 42 psi. Don't bother with high speeds until you do that. You not even reving high enough for the high speeds.

If ur ebox is open test your stator a bad charge coil will give u problems too. Typical back fires are caused by a bad msd enhancer. Ive seen that numerous times.

Try these in this order:

Unplug your stop switch - black/white wire down by your ebox (Will have to pull plug wires to stop engine, or turn idle down)
Try a known working CDI
Check that the ground is still good on your stator
Replace stator with known good stator

Sounds like it is bouncing off the limiter?
Is this a question like you think it's bouncing of a limiter?. That engine is no where near the limiter. It is breaking up half way up the rpm band. My guess is it's not getting strong enough spark weak stators and high compression will blow out the spark unless the plug is gapped really tight.

New plugs and a tight gap should be the very first thing to do. It takes 2 minutes to do it.

I want to say my blaster sounded just like that if I rev'd it on the trailer. Figured it was bouncing off the rev limiter because it ran perfect in the water. Then again a few months later the cdi went out... =/

Okay I cut back the wires 3/4 of an inch and I wasn't sure on the spark gap but I set it about 2/3 of how they come. It made a world of a difference.

I just bang the plug on a hard surface. Sometimes my head or my head pipe. Lol. But I get it very close to touching and then it runs perfect.

Closing the gap seems like a temp fix. If cutting the wires back helped you should send your coil to OCD and have him rebuild it before you end up having to replace it. Because that will happen on a Friday before a 3 day weekend at the lake.

A friend of mine has a msd ignition coil is that worth snatching up or are those no better than stock because he has a new oem one too.
