If there was a oem hull 800 freestyle class who would compete

but mag pumps are big $$$ so i feel counter productive. oem cast pump any size u can make fit without fiiberglass work is much more budget friendly. i guess to me a $300 head isnt allowed but a $1500 set back mag pump setup i? seems to defeat the purpose again

as far as boat wake consistency.... wakeboarders deal with it..... is what it is for ur run. surfers deal with it in the surf. sometimes u get a poop draw. but same boat same speed same boat path should all be pretty equal.

Solas mags used sell for 250-300. new they can be bought under 400. AM head can push psi much higher than any milled stock head will be able to.

but again, optional. they arent required to compete or even be competitive. i watch guys on stock skis outride people on Am hulls with 900cc motors and a 155 pump. bring rider skill back to the game, not more power. otherwise soon we will be riding a sheet of plywood with a small block chevy and a 300mm pump just so guys can shred the gnar.

im more impressed watching a guy roll or flip my SN.

just as a n argument because i think all of these are good points and make everyone think.

any time in competition u limit to a stock head it becomes a competition of who can spend the most on machining/porting so that they can have that extra little edge. someone will always want to stay at the top of the 800cc class knowing that the 900cc class they will rank at best mid pack. so u run into issues. un modified all available aftermarket heads is a simple bolt on most have already done. im not going to go fin a 750sx stock head to put on my ski when i already have an ada so u have eliminated me from the field of competitors. Idk about u guys but when i got my ski head pipe and prop were first mods. i didnt do pump first because i didnt know the benefits. so now i have to reverse my current mods and spend more on a pump.... makes very little sense.

and yes they can be had for that. but the second u add after market pumps uve got the guy again buying https://www.blowsion.com/yamaha-skat-trak-magnum-pump-140mm-and-144mm so he can have that edge. and u now open the oor to having to verify pump size in tech due to a 144 and 148 being hard to tell the difference from just by looking. easy to spot a mag vs a cast stock pump....

For me id personally have a class legal boat. most will go that route, racers do it all the time. And of any class someone will always sit at the top. you could cap CC but how do you verify? and making open mods on a stock hull an option removes the guys with a 650 sn from the field. again, takes the point of the class away. it wouldnt be too hard to make a measuring tool to verify the stock pump size, im sure the OD of a 148 is larger than a 144. Pop off the ride plate to verify (if necessary) and theres a per-determined set of tools for each class. with limited OEM production, theres only so many stock options that came on them. tech wouldnt be simple due to cheaters

It's a competition, not a socialism. I'm sorry, but someone might be able to bring a few more bucks to the table than the next guy.

Stock head, am head, milled head, who cares. It's all the same crap. I can see keeping $10+ gallon race gas out, but arguing about which head you get to 180psi with is splitting hairs.

thats true, but its hard to run 84+ mil pistons on a 81 mil 61x head. meaning sleeve inspection wouldnt really be necessary

making open mods on a stock hull an option removes the guys with a 650 sn from the field. again
no not at all. the guy with the 650 sn still is allowed to compete...
why is everybody so afraid to lose? this i'm not going to show up because i don't have all the most expensive parts attitude is pretty pathetic. you put the 10th place guy on the first place boat and i guarantee you he is still not going to win. a finely tuned machine and a skilled rider go hand in hand. the guy riding a 650 square would have no idea how to dial in pro 800cc set up. all that stuff comes from experience. you cant just buy your way to the top

So maybe this was asked, but I didn't see it anywhere, What about trim systems? And does trimming the bond rail at the back of the ski count as modifying the top deck? Not trying to find an edge just seeing if my hull would qualify, I know the one im building now wont since its getting rockered, but my other on is cut in the center above the nozzle from when it had trim.
