You've got to be kidding me, the cheerleaders were saying this guy should've won? He didn't even finish his run on his ski!lmao A bunch of circling around with botched setup wakes.

Here is the complete HD video, including action that goes over the allotted 2 min for a routine and, as such, was not included in judges' scoring (you are wrong about him not finishing the routine on the ski).

Oh Volia, what are you thinking quoting Kenny of all people??? I managed to get him to go to sleep (I'm awake, because I ate chocolate chip cookies too late). He's just going to wake back up and get right back on it now because of that (and he can really get on it, bad bad boy, banned from almost everywhere many times over that one is).

Edit: I stated previously within the massive thread that your man lost the boat after the routine was over, Kenny is smart/he saw that, he's just baiting you.

From IJSBA rulebook ( http://www.ijsba.com/ijsba/rulebook/2011/2011Part6.pdf ):

"14.1.6 A freestyle routine of greater difficulty with minimal mistakes will be scored higher than a routine of lesser difficulty with
fewer or no mistakes."

Everyone agrees that Alex' routine was of the greatest difficulty.

That is true to an extent.

If Rider "A" goes out and pulls 5 very difficult tricks but spends to much time looking for the perfect water condition and attemps 5 tricks and does them ok with a few mistakes may not get scored as high has Rider "B" who goes out and pulls equally difficult tricks whose routine flows more, does not waste time looking for perfect conditions, uses up as much of the alloted time allowed. Rider B may get scored higher that Rider A who pulled off one trick that is very difficult. Judging is subjective. It is purely based on the judges opinion. This is what really sucks about judging. I agree in Alex's case that one judge (#2) gave some really low scores. Personally, I wish they would through the lowest and the highest scores out (Providing there are 5 or more judges) and take the average. This cuts out any chance of favoritism or grudge scoring!

I will agree that Alex went for MUCH more difficult tricks and had the exicution been JUST a TAD better he would have won Amature freestyle with a land fall.
He Attempted a super flip, a no handed landed roll, completed a one footed stab and stayed busy the entire routine.
It was a tough routine to judge as I would give major props for degree of difficulty but had to deducted for not so clean exicution.
I give him MAJOR props and feel his routine deserved a higher score over all. His variation was MUCH better than the winners.
That water was CRAPPY at best.
I didnt see the pros compete, I am anxious to see them. I know a few years back Eric Malone had simular water conditions and over came them well, I think that is important in the pro sector to have the skilz to overcome ANY water conditions and still have a clean routine, they need to adapt to the conditions.

I say don't bother trying to pull "big" tricks you can't truly pull them off.

I would rather see a nice clean routine than someone out there "trying" for 2 minutes.

Congrats Derrick!

It all comes down to this: on that day, in those conditions, with those judges, Derrick won. Congratulations to him!

Stranger things have happened, judging is subjective, so you just have to roll with it.

I agree, but the water conditions aided to the failure to be clean as well. He went for it anyway. Congrats to LIL D for sure. I know he is capable of more as well but the water conditions tamed his ride as well. He went for what he was comfortable with.

Hey guys, thank you to EVERYONE who has supported me throughthe years. Winning am freestyle at world finals this year has been the greatest moment of my life, and I will never forget it. The conditions were rough, and the competitors were very talented, and I give every one of them major props for going out and doing their thing. I'm siting at iHop in Havasu still, then going to head out to body beach to ride some skis, but when I get home, I'll post up videos and pictures when I get a chance.

Once again, thank you everyone for the kind words and support, you guys have no idea how much I appreciate it!

Sincerely,
Derrick 'lil d' Kemnitz
