Magic, that scoring is done seperately, They score the Am's seperate from the Pro's. They do not score and then combine. The scores are not stacked up against the pros.

Of the 4 Am's that competed, you take say 3 judges, They value from 1-10. usually in tenths like you see at a gymnasitc competition. the three judges scores are added up and you get each riders combined score. In this case ALEX was scored 28.4 over the other 3. When the pros run, they are scored the same way. Parr may have had the top score at 27.5 (Hypothetical), He would still be the winner. Why? Because these are two different classes, they are not scored together.

So, in a nutshell, Alex is not 2nd over all. There is no combined results here. He scored the highest in Am Freestyle for that day, They still have to run today to get the overall score.

You can't look at it that way. They were ran as two distinctly different classes. All the ams rode first and then the pros. An am with a 9.5 is simply not the same as a pro 9.5. Alex rode well for an am, but I don't think anyone would say he beat Stoyer and Ratti's routine.

I would say Alex would have beet stoyer remember stoyer lost a minute when his zip tie popped off and he had to find another oy a lanyard.

You are correct. They score seperately. But he has the second highest score overall. That says something. He scored higher than some pros. That is all I am saying.

You still have not figured it out. The actual score number has no bearing compairing Amateur to Pro scoring. There is no scoring criterial. A back flip does not have a assigned value, a roll does not have an assigned value. There is no criteria. I have judged many times. Basically when the first person goes, you score that person. Typlically they are going to be scored somewhere around 9.4-9.6. From there, each competitor is scored based on the first riders score. You have to use the first competitor as a base line. If he is better than everybody, then his score will be the highest. If he is just in the middle, then he is just that, in the middle of the pack. Or every rider may be above him.

again, Alex's "score" has nothing to do with any of the Pro's score. It only means he was scored higher than any other competitor in Amateur Freestyle.

Yeah where is Lucas? Doesn't he want to compete against Alex? Maybe he prefers his 1100cc.

Alex had a sticker on his hull, actually it was a sticker on a black piece of Duct Tape that said DASA 1100. Not sure if that was his actual motor size, I thought he told us that he was running an 1100, if he was, His first place technically would be forfeited since if I am not mistaken 900cc is the limit for AM Freestyle.

Well Alex won the amateur freestyle event AGAIN. Maybe Lucas should show up at the next event to potentially give him some competition.

Lucas was hanging out with his family at the beach zone today... Family is way more important than riding at some comp out of state... And the 1100 is my ski not lucas's ski...

Just help alex get ready for nationals and WF's!!! I'm sure you will be there to cheer him on

I will be attending as much I can, so I can support my sponsors, Thrust Innovations, Dasa, Superfreak, Jetmaniac

I dont have a problem compete against Alex at all, he is a great rider, and Stoyer told me he is a very dedicate student.

BTW I dont have a Dasa 1100 , thats is Josh ski. hell of a set up, I had the chance to ride twice

i think im done competing..... it's sad to know that i have about 10 K invested in my superjet, and it's considered " heavy hull, not best for flat water competition freestyle, and extremely under-powered " , but yet I have to compete against a hull that weighs 150 lbs less, and has a questionable "1100" cc motor in it. life isn't fair, we all understand this...but if your doing 1 1/2 backies, and huge flair spins, under flips, ect ect ect, thats going to raise questions as to why you would not enter "pro" class, but whatever.... everyone did a great job this weekend, but I just do not stand a chance at placing above fourth or third if I can't do a flat water backie. so if i already know what my score is before any of the runs begin, why even bother going out? AMs didn't even get plaques this weekend....lame. it is what it is.

Hey, Michael, for years I competed against a guy on a wammer hull. Yeah, he had a lighter hull, he could pull double troubles. He was better than me. That is how I looked at it. But I did not let it discourage me from competing. I did it for the fun and comraderie. I did not worry about what place I got. Yeah, it was fun beating that guy some, It did happen a few times, he would choke, have somethign go wrong, like what happened to stoyer on Sat. Dont give up because of the fact that there may have been a guy with an 1100 motor. Honestly, I enjoyed watching your run over his. You looked like you were having fun, that is what matters. Head down to Myrtle Beach this weekend and compete and just have fun!.
