it looks like my old sxi before i retaped the lines of purple and sprayed them black. It was easy:biggrin:

I'm in the process of taking all the decals off except the SXi. Its looking pretty cool but it seems like getting the actual glue off is the hardest part.

Anthony, Congrats on your new purchase!!!

Sorry for giving you the feeling I left! While that is physicaly true, I'm on here often & can be easily reached at the shop. I'm more than happy to work with you as others have mentioned. If you feel mechanicly challanged, I have a list of friends in NJ who would be more than willing to help. All you would need to do is contact me & I'll be happy to refrence you to someone close to you.

Like others have said, drain the old gas, fill with fresh, install a new battery & some fresh plugs & give it a go. You might be pleasantly surprised.......!

Next week is the first & maybe the biggest freeride of the season, in Daytona. Get your boat running & contact some of the NJ crew like Pancake or Alex. I'm sure they can find room for one more in their carravan.......... Hope to meet you there!!

Enjoy your new toy!!!

Ski ya, Paul

Ahh, no worries. I have everything drained and just grabbed the battery from my sitdown (duh!) so I will be giving it a go pretty soon. I'll be sure to post about what happens.

Would love to head down to Daytona but won't be happening this year for sure. To say I'm buried at work would be an understatement but the invite is definitely appreciated.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and pick yourself up a heat gun for about $20-$30. It will make the process SO much easier. Run the heat gun over the decal for a few seconds and they come off easier than a prom dress.

You just run the heat gun over the decal and gently pull. The decal says "Mike, what are you doing." To which you say, "We're in a hotel after prom, what do you think I'm doing?" and the entire process degenerates from there. :banghead:

lol.....I bought the heat gun (B&D Heat Pro Deluxe) and the decals came off pretty damn easy this week (easier than my prom date if I remember correctly).

It is the glue they left behind. I have some "Sticker Shock" that I bought at Pep Boys before that I'm going to use to try to take off the glue but I think today I may get some gas, put my Amsoil Interceptor 2-Stroke oil that I use for my couch, my couch's battery and see if I can get this thing started.

Just hooked up my couch battery (Odyssey PC6255) and it doesn't fit down inside the compartment so I really need to find out what battery fits in this thing. Anyway, fresh gas, fresh oil, two pushes on the starter and it started right up. Now its time to winterize. I normally run RV Antifreeze through the lines in my couch but guess that isn't necessary since it hasn't touch water in so long. Going to grease it up and put some fogging oil in it and count the days until it gets warm.

If you know a battery that fits a 1996 750 SXi, please let me know!!!

Thanks.

once i got all the decals off with a hair dryer i rubbed some goo gone all over the leftover glue. after a couple minutes take a razor blade and scrape off the glue. should come off easy but be careful because that razor blade with want to bite into the paint if you dont go at a good angle. With mine it didnt matter cause I was repainting.. just a tip..

I took some pictures of the carbs. I'm not judge but they appeared to be clean to me, see below:
