With the profit from a parts ski I just got rid of I splurged just a little. :fest06: I've been wanting to try a single setup for a while now. I ride in the surf 98% of the time and have been seeking the simplicity of a single carb. Now I only have to rebuild one carb when I swamp my ski.

Switching from a set of taper bore 44's on a R & D mani.

New Setup:

Riva single carb 62T conversion manifold combo

Brand New Black Jack 46mm - Straight from Jet Works

OEM Yamaha Flame arrestor adapter from Trust Innovations

OEM Flame arrestor from eBay

So I was kinda thinking that having the carb flipped around would be a little better. The place on the manifold is on rear side of the engine. What do you all think about using a throttle linkage adaptor plate thingy? That way I can flip the carb and put the throttle linkage on the front side of the engine.

Novi throttle bracket is the best you can use when needing a throttle cable mount for reverse mounted carbs. Sorry I just sold my last 2 yesterday...I'll have to order another batch of them. ($35 ea. with mounting bolts and washers)

So I rode the ski today. Thanks to some tips I found from Matt E here, I got the thing to run very well. It pulled so strong. It hit just as hard if not harder than my previous dual setup. I still have some very fine tuning to do, but I love this setup. It is loading up a little if I am just cruising the surf waiting for the set, but if I keep into the throttle for a while and then go down to a near idle speed, then blip the throttle, it hits so crazy hard. JetWorks recommenced if it loads up as I am describing to raise the pop a little, what do you all think?

Over all I am very pleased. Can you say, "Dual-Carbs for Sale"?

Yup...if it loads up, raise popoff a bit. You may have to raise the pilot to compensate.

Just wanted to update this thread a month down the line. I love my new carb setup. Tuned it a little bit more since I originally installed it, and I am having way less issues with it loading it up. It only loads up after a really long harbor wake zone. Over all, I'm impressed.

What I find interesting is how a great deal of people bashed the blackjack carbs and now a bunch of people are having great results (not speaking of you personally OX). Seems odd though huh?

blackjacks

love every pair of bjs ive owned.always hit hard on the bottom and keeps on going. ive tries novis and full specs. personally i think blackjacks are a little crisper then others. i dont really think full specs are worth twice the cost or perform better.. i know people that have to tune their boat different when they go south of georgia to surf ride and rejet. ive never had that problem.art told me to set it up a certain way . put it in and never really touched it.group gays i mean group k website is what got people thinking blackjacks are race only.

Hey Oxnard.....to make this thread even better lets hear how much that set-up cost to purchase. I want one too.

Here you go Willy

46mm BlackJack new directly from JetWorks - $385

Riva Conversion manifold used - $100 shipped from ebay

OEM 44 Flame Arrestor - $35 shipped from ebay

Thrust Innovations FA adapter - $95 shipped

Gaskets - $5

Grand total = $620

I sold my old carb setup for $365 shipped I think... so not all of the $620 was out of pocket.
