you will have to try it first since his boat is here at my house and he is in iraq

^ True story. :-(

and yes, totally shaved legs and accessories. said hypothetical girl wants to save the environment not have a bush that could trap and kill ducks like a 6 pack ring.
:)

new thought on the idea too. With some patience and a heat gun i think you could take 2 liters and lightly heat them till pliable and then push them down into the gunwhales to almost mold them to a degree. i think by doing this you could fit more bottles and have less foam while still filling the majority of the voids...im totally going down this road when i get home and can slap my WCF conversion together :Banane09:

something to consider is the heat generated by curing 2 part foam. it could definitely melt the ping pong balls or coke bottles.

i know it gets very warm but do you think its hot enough to melt through a coke bottle? last time i poured foam i think that we used the red dixie cups to mix and pour it with, it got warm to the touch and may have SLIGHTLY started to melt the cup but very slightly, and that plastic is no where near the strength of a soda bottle i wouldnt imagine.

next time someone is foaming if you wouldnt mind pour a little bit of the left over foam on a 2 liter bottle and snap a pic for this thread. like i said, i dont think it will be an issue, but def something to consider and test first.

I think we had a huge thread about ping pong balls a few years ago. I like the pop bottle idea. You could even do those little mini plastic water bottles and just skip the foam. Some bottles are much thinner and lighter than others. I think the dannon(?) water bottles are the thinnest out there. Those should work better than pop bottles.

For the bottles, I visited my local recycling bins a few times to get lots of different shapes & sizes of bottles. (they have a great 'return policy' should you not need them all) :)
There's 4 x 2ltrs, 5 x 1ltrs, 6 x 16oz, and 2-4 x 12 oz. has the blue polystyrene sheets in the sides and it's all glassed up now. The super thin bottles may wear through one day, years from now, just from vibration etc.
They are crammed pretty tight in there, even under the driveshaft tube, under steering cable tube, and under the waterlines also. I could have fit more, but I also shortened the hull about 3.5inches in the rear also.
I put the bottles in the freezer w/ caps off before sealing them up and putting them in. That way, the have dense air particles in the bottles. more air=more flotation.
Before & glassed up pics

that look's pretty awesome! great work recycling! dont know if your running front exhaust or not? but i wonder if the heat from the exhaust pipe would be a issue?
