Aluminum/Stainless

a friend of mine shortened his oem rn pole, but used aluminum rivets instead of ss rivets. the pole ripped right out of the socket on the first ride.

he re-did everything exactly the same, but used ss rivets and hasnt had a problem since.

so, id say the rivets do play a big part in the poles design/strength.

Are the stock rivets not aluminum? I'm sure most people who have shortened the pole use aluminum aswell?

What?

:261: must be cause I just got out bed - but what exactly are we talking about here? You(we) wanna replace the stock pole for a similar pole that looks stock? Ok but as an example that japanese Carbon Pic you show - thats sweet - but what about the core styrofom? Do you replace that too?

I'm not really sure what the goal of this is? Stock looks - To replcae a broken pole? To lighten or maybe just slick the whole thing up?

Help me out again here?

My problem with the stock pole is actually the bottom 'bracket/saddle' that the fiberglass pole slides into. That's what I have busted twice before.

And as far as JB Weld, that stuff is awesome.
