I never used one but it seems to have several benifits.

1. Don't have to worry about the water leaking down the external spout.
2. Easier to remove and install gas tank if you don't have to reconnect to external spout.
3. Looks cool.

I have one RN with external and one RN with internal. I can honestly say that I prefer the internal for cosmetic reasons. While you have to remove more to fill up, i usually take my hood off when i fill up anyway.

Functionally, it doesn't matter though. it's all about the look. If I build another RN i would most likely not do an internal fill again. no real gain in it.

its a BIG PAIN...dont do it..im so sick of removing my hood straps, limiting rope and hood everytime i want to fuel up..its not worth it

There is no reason to do this mod on a surf boat. This mod is from the hood riding days where you would hang up on the fuel cap spinning around on the nose..... It was a functional mod only. Yes, the ski looks cleaner without it, but that is it really.

internal spillage makes your ski into a BOMB:bad3:

yeah, yeah, that is the way to go

Internal only for me, makes pulling the tank a snap, I can see how full the tank is when I'm filling it, it's one less thing my dumbass buddies can play with when they're around my ski, which results in less water in my gas. I figure I should be taking a peek under the hood every once in a while to make sure everything is intact anyway.

Moondance

Just plain me....
I can see where you guys are coming from in being able to pull the tank easily. But realistically, how many times are you having to pull the tank compared to re-fueling? Interesting points from both sides though.

Internal fill is the only way to roll .

You can fill the tank all the way up instead of leaving the last couple inches empty .
Outside of the ski looks nicer .
Inside of the ski looks nicer .
WAYYYYYYY easier to remove tank for maintenance and repairs .Mine comes out in less than a minute .
No accidental water flowing into your filler .
No gas cap to get caught up on when doing ghey hood tricks

Honestly ,saying it takes to long to take your hood off to fill up is ridiculous .It takes me about 10 seconds to remove 2 wratchet straps and remove the hood .
I always peak under the hood after some surf anyways .

Internal. No brainer. I can remove entire full tank filled to the tip top and not spill one drop. And it looks better.

I can't imagine at least not checking the basics under the hood at each fill up anyway:thinking:

I barely spill enough to run down the side of the tank if that.

Well that depends on the pipe you are running. With Dry Pipes with exception of the Speedwerx you have to remove the Tank and the Battery Tray to remove the chamber. You have to remove the Dry Pipe Chamber so can remove the cylinder head or to replace a worn blown dry pipe coupler.

I would think the B-pipe users would not have as much need to remove the tank other than hull repair, or pole bracket installation.

saying its WAYYYYY easier to remove the tank dosnt make sense..its one hose clamp your eliminating...

also sometimes when the surf is decent size and im in a hurry to get back out there..i dont feel like dragging my ski onto a tote or pulling the tote up the beach its a pain to remove all that stuff and balance your hood in the tray while you fill up in a few feet of water while its on the tote ..its much easier to just open a cap and pour your fuel in....i could care less what you guys run to be honest with you....im just saying that the majority of the time i wish i had an external fill

1 hose clamp and the big hole the gas pours out of when removing it .I've done both and it's WAYYYYYYY easier with internal fill to remove the tank .
Like said above you can remove a tank filled to the very top without spilling a drop .try that with external fill .
To each his own is the bottom line .
