is 2014 the end of the super jet?

The truth is, standups are loud, not small lake friendly, 2 stroke so they give off a lot of emissions, and the EPA gives Yamaha a ton of bs for still making the superjet. BUT standup are fun and require skill and I will love them till I can't ride them anymore. People turn to the newer couches because let's face it- they come stock from the factory at 55-70mph depending on model. And they are RELIABLE in most circumstances... Are stock superjets and stock kawis reliable?? It just depends on the ski, if they are well maintained and within spec, yes they are. BUT all standups came with a stock speed ranging from 30mph to 50mph. That's not fast enough for me, so I turn to aftermarket parts every time and dump tons of cash into them and even after I've put $5000 into a $1500 square nose, I'm still shown up by stock couches, well, at least the newer ones. The point is standup are typically not female-freindly lol and most people quit after their first try, and sit downs are just so much more available.. There, I made a good attempt to try and make a statement but I ended up going off subject again and rambling on. Lol. I believe the superjet will stick around till 2020

I would say most of this information is false. Stock stand ups with rear exhaust are plenty quiet, 45+mph on a stand up takes much more skill then 70+ on a couch, so you cant compare. The only way you are going to compete with couches speed wise (if you can stay on) is buy a hydrospace or dump that 5k into an 1100 then put it in an sxr.

Is this the last year for the Superjet, probably not.

the epa isnt involved with superjets whatsoever..only reason they can produce a 2 stroke marine engine is its for closed course competition only.. technically you shouldnt be able to register them..for us.. new hampshire is behind the curve though they havent caught on.

yeh on stock boats for sure. But you and I know that if there is ONE single stand up out there that is running a straight pipe or an AF water box, and its super loud, it gives a bad view on all of us. 1100 sxr's are too heavy IMO and when running a straight pipe or AF water box, they are LOUD as hell. And what's the point of an 1100 sxr if your going to run a restrictive stock water box? I find that you've went back on your own post...

I have never ridden a standup or X2 for speed. Why would you even attempt to compare the two? The reason I switched is because there is no skill in a couch. You sit...speed across the lake...do a 360. Attempt to look cool jumping a wake, then go back to your camp, sit and let your 11 year old do the same thing.

It's awesome Yamaha is still producing SJs, I don't foresee them stopping in the near future. It would be nice if they came up with a hull new model (See what I did there?), but they probably don't make enough on them to do so.

if the EPA wasn't involved with the superjets, why do you have to own a racers license to purchase one? Yeh

because its not approved for marine use... strictly for racing only.. yamaha requires u to have a license not the epa... and most of the time the dealers dont even ask for it. my buddy bought a 2014 last week.... its the same as buying a AM hull these days..guarentee you epa doesnt even know about rickters

they probably don't, but rickter typically come as an empty hull, so even if the EPA knew about them..... What could they do?

yes and WHO didn't approve it for marine use?? The epa . Yamaha only requires you to have a license because its a way to get around the EPA regulations.
