I like social media. It is a way to keep up with friends. See what is happening with everyday life......... Yes, I am tired of the political BS. But this is not about that.............

The amount of lack of knowledge, lack of common sense is just mind blowing. Yes, there are tons of pages for Superjets, Freestyle, Racing, etc etc...... But what there is not, is an archive of information like there is on here, PWCToday, Greenhulk..... If you dont know something, you can search here and find it. Not happening on FB unless you find a "File" page like one of the 550's pages has. You can upload documents.

In the past 2 weeks I have seen 2 ski's that were painted and they did not remove the pole from the bracket......... WTF............. Saw a foothold install where someone cut out the entire side. Did not even remove the plastic dash piece. Just cut it flush with it and under the rubber elbow pads (Rail Caps)........... If you dont know what to do, ask. At least here you can search and find info on how to properly do things. Yes, many of us are on FB also. But damn, there are some people who do not know what they are doing and are giving advice.......... Please just stop.

Hasn't been a carb'd road vehicle sold in America in over 20yrs minimum, so nobody knows how to use them anymore.

4 years ago I new absolutely nothing about jetskiis, my dad grew up riding a 650sx and because of him he got me into jet skiing at a really early age (14) I ended up saving for a 650sx that was in rough condition for $200. I knew how to turn a wrench and I have always been pretty knowledgeable when it comes to mechanics but still I didn't know anything about jetskiis. Over the course of the winter my dad helped me get my jetski running and then I took on the task of painting it which I have never done on a full scale (pictures linked at bottom). So I decided to RESEARCH on how to do it and after a few videos I felt like I was knowledgable enough to tackle my jetski....which of course didn't turn out perfect but I think it looked pretty damn cool. After that I ended up getting my first superjet which had a cracked case because water froze in the engine bay, again I didn't have a clue about superjets but was a little more knowledgable because of my first ski. That being said I still RESEARCHED on how to repair the cracked engine block and after many forms and videos I was able to tackle it and I still have that same engine today with no problems. Now fast forward to today and I'm currently restoring a trashed freestyle hull with carbon fiber and all the goodies you can imagine. Basically what I'm saying is I'm 18 and I'd consider myself relatively knowledgeable when it comes to jetskiis. And it's not like I just got this knowledge over night, it took endless amounts of scrolling through forms and watching videos but it's not like I was never able to find the information I needed. I find it very suprising how many people just jump into a project thinking they know what they are getting themselves into without even researching what may lie ahead of them. It's not like the information you need is not out there, but it does take time to find and learn the info you need. Be patient do a lot of research and take your time!

There is always going to be people doing it however they want. They may not even know about X-H2O, or how to find anything on here.

Facebook is easy for replying, getting instant feedback, inserting links, attaching pictures, etc. Forums are great for capturing lots of information over a lot of years, but they're all dying.

I saw a guy at the Daytona freeride who didn't even torque the flywheel on his Rickter. A couple of very nice, better educated gentlemen got him sorted out though.

you got it wrong, It was the one time he actually torqued it to factory specs............. that it come loose........

Forums are dying off with the participants. Most kids live entirely inside now and are too fat to enjoy any physical sport. Im looking to pass the torch but cant find much interest.

There is also a phenomenon where the more you know yourself, the more you notice how much other people don't know. This is not just about skis, it's life in general. People are perpetually in a cycle of young people thinking old people are out of touch and old people marveling at how dumb young people are making all the same mistakes that they've already made.

Me being 18 I have tried countless times to get others involved in this sport, I managed to get a few friends intrested but none have ever committed to buying a ski I even told them I would sell my old 650 to them for 500 bucks in good running condition just so I can have a buddy to ride with. And like you said the majority of kids these days want to sit on their asses and play video games all day. Another problem I believe is that there's not a huge community to promote the sport, I am really excited about the new hot water movie and I really hope it's a big hit because if it is I'm sure it will deffinetly get more people intrested.

Another problem I find is that less people would even consider getting into this sport than what it used to be. Now a days people who own cottages or lake houses are at least at my lake, rich city people who own multi million dollar houses that spend 2 weeks a year our there. And of course those city people are not intrested in dedicating them self to a sport such as jet skiing because it's not what interests them. I know back when my dad was my age, all the people who owned cottages would spend the entire summer out there. And that would be their one "vacation" for the year.

yes, people who put OVP steering on a stock pole and run with no chin pad are awful... Can’t buy anything decent used anymore, it’s all been chopped up and reassembled by people I wouldn’t trust to build a birdhouse.

I just removed myself from yet anther facebook group for pretty much the same reason.

I was going back and forth with a guy in PM's who turned out to be an engineer with Reolink and he invited me to be a moderator on their official facebook tech page.
I handled it for about 4 weeks before I just couldn't stand it any more and started getting nasty with the lazies. Can anybody do anything for themselves anymore?
How is it that they can ask advice and read random comments from strangers but yet can't seem to read a single thread in the FAQ section???

I have said it before and will repeat it now, forums are a much better way to collect, share and gain knowledge in any subject.
What other format retains the history like a forum does?

Most Millinials have No clue what a forum is? All they know is FB. To make it worse, have no idea how to spin a wrench either! Some do try! Ill give those credit for that!

AND welcome to the new generations!!!!! Millennial , x, y z and what ever is left, sadly the majority are just not all there. I just mess with them all and tell them my stuff runs better than yours because I used an "abacus" to dial it in. They ask how they can get one and I answer with, there is an app!!!! The ones that get it sh-t themselves laughing and the ones dumb enough to look I can only imagine.
