This is sad to hear.
My heart really goes out to the family, it has to be the hardest on them right now. No doubt it will be hard on Joe when he comes through, he will definately have a long road ahead of him, but I can't help but think of what his family is going through right now and how hard it would be to see your son or brother essentially lifeless, and to have to watch him go through this and the long recovery process.
Lisa, did he at least remember his family for the short period he was awake?
I cant imagine waking up and having no clue who I was or who was around me.

He knew who we were but just couldn't seem to say our names. If I asked "Am I Sandy?" He'd say "No", then when I followed with "Am I Lisa?" he said "Yeah, but that's not what I call you, I call you something else" - which is true - Joe and only a few of my family members call me "LiLi" so he knew what was up Saturday......by Sunday, it was a completely different story.

He commented several times how much he liked the trophies, though had the heart to give his to a spectator at the event.

Joe gave most of his trophy's to fans/spectators.

My friend had a similar injury and he is fine now. Except that he can't taste or smell. But he is alive and well!!!

it wasn't much but i just sent my donation via paypal. everyone should do the same, even if its just a couple bucks. Medical bills can be so expensive. My GF recently had to get 40 stitches and even though she has good medical insurance (she's a teacher) she is so far $900 in the hole, so I can't even imagine how much JK's bills are going to be.
