300/440/550 js300 & x2

greetings from the U.K, some of you may have seen this on another PWC forum, I have recently aquired a 1986 js300 which has never been in the water,nor been run, the battery still has a rubber band around it with the filling instructions. There is a sticker on the rear of the hull saying "no oil".
Any suggestions as to how to prepare this dinosaur for its first outing greatfully recieved.
Going on to my recently aquired non running x2, it is now a runner and I plan to get it wet this weekend, cant help thinking it will go bang..............will keep you updated.
One querey with it is it should have a remote fuel pump, which it hasnt, do they run without ok without, as it has been missing for a long while and must have been used without, any thoughts??????????????

Greetings back.
The very early X2's had the external fuel pump with the 28 mm Keihin carburetor. Later models had the 34 then 38 carburetors which had their own internal fuel pumps. Don't try to add an additional fuel pump onto a 34 or 38.
If the 300 turns over with the old (new) battery, then I would just suggest making sure you have oil and spark and placing fresh fuel in the tank and fire it up...

So nice to get a reply, many times you go on forums and wait weeks for even someone to view, as regard to fresh fuel, it has never had fuel or oil in the tanks, the closest this ski has been to water is the rain on the garage roof

It is probably to late now but I hope you premixed the gas and bleed the oil pump of air. The oil in the gas is helps it break in.

Not too late, ski is still as I purchassed it, not planning to attempt to fire it up untill late February, ready for its first outing in March!!
 
Hey I had that same 300 ski new in 1988. Disconnect the oil injection and run 40 or 50:1 premix in it. Those old oil injection systems were total junk. I promise it will blow up. Run premix and no problems. I also broke a crank on it also from jumping and the rev limiter not working correctly. Where did you find a 300 never used?
 
Think your post has confirmed it, now I need to get a oil block off plate/kit!
As to where I found it..... that is a long story and yes I know it needs to be in a museum, but I got it for my ten year old to learn on, unless anyone in the UK wants to swap it for something else he can use!
