JS550 Carb Help

hey everyone I'm pretty new to the stand up skis and i have a js440 and a js550, the 440 runs but the 550 does not. it use to have a little life but not really so i rebuilt the carb and now nothing, if i pour gas down the intake fires right up. i know i could upgrade it to a sbn carb but I'm not trying to go that route just yet. it has a pulse coming from the case it has the rev limiter deleted with a restriction in the return line, iv taken the carb apart a bunch of times to see many i put something in wrong but when i look at the diagram it looks just right, i have the fuel in coming in the front, the pulse line on the right side of the carb (bow side) and the return on the left side of the carb. i can not figure out why it will not pump fuel or do anything with the fuel.... I'm stumped

I'll try and help you.there not the best carb first blow down the pump on the carb with your mouth.you shouldn't be able blow if you can its knackered.

its piston port no reeds, and ill do that ill try blowing into the pump and see if its bad, the fuel filter has been replaced with a in-line.
 
Well from what it sounds like it seems the problem is the carbs not getting gas. Check fuel line pressure that might be the problem

what I'd do is swap it for a new carb those carbs are a nightmare to work on.super jet Single carbs will fit straight on

i did not know that ill search ebay for a super jet carb and maby go that route then with both the 440 and the 550, you could do the sbn44 also right?

Yes sbn44s will bolt right on. I think you need a spacer between the port and mani thought so it fits

Don't go to big with the carbs 44 will be ok.you mite have to change the jets it's not a biggie

I'll have a look at bro ski in the morning to see what size carb I fitted to his old 550.hope this helps the more you fiddle about trying different things the easier it gets.its all trail and Error

sweet well before i go swapping carbs im going to try and blow into the pump and see if its crack or anything since the 550 is owned by my buddy and im trying to get it to run for him, and i rather put money into my 440 to give it more power maby 550 swap it in the future

I'll take some pic in the morning I'm in the middle of modifying a 550 hull and fitting a zxi750.the customer really wants to do a flat water backflip
