I've given mine somewhere.. I'm not very long winded and don't like that my ride reviews turn into me being a fan boy, but here goes lol.

I had been looking for a ski and the first one I demo'ed was the Rok-r in Oregon with flush plate (long plate wasn't out yet) and it had a really poor running 61x 701. I could not keep the nose down on it to save my life for the first few minutes but then learned to control it some, we left there not completely sold on it but keeping it in consideration under the idea of a better setup and longer plate would help.

I also got to ride Crab's -5 Freak. I really liked it but thought(for me) it turned a little too flat and was a little more work to get it prepped/painted/built than I was willing to put in. I did feel instantly comfortable on it though.

Then I started talking to Steve about a Rok-r he was selling really cheap, thinking for the price I couldn't lose. I asked why he was selling it and then found out about his hull, the Backie-Chan. It sounded more like the direction I wanted to go so I made plans to fly down and test out his demo when it was ready. So I flew down and met everyone, they were all cool guys and I loved how it rode so I ordered one on the spot.

My Ski:

My ski has the engine set back 2 inches with a short GP shaft and a ride plate that is +2 on the sides and +3 in the middle.

I am 5'10" and 160lbs.

It rode great and had zero porpoise going wide open, I think I will end up cutting the plate more to get the nose up some. With the plate being where it was, for my weight I felt like a longer pole would have "felt better" but once I cut the plate and start trying flips I may need it where it is or shorter. The ski goes wide open and tracks perfectly straight, and the thing turns on a dime. I didn't feel like I had to muscle it into turns at all. It has great "pop" out of the water and fits exactly what I wanted going into my hull hunt. A ski that is short, can backflip easily but that doesn't give up the ride of my Superjet that I loved cruising around. For me this was the perfect "all around" ski I was looking for.

I also would still love to try a Circus Freak, because I'm pretty sure if I didn't love the Chan that would be the next ski I would have tried/owned. Chris Anyzeski makes it look so damn good!!

Since the backie chan thread is closed, I'll ask here.

The bottom deck is based off a SXR correct? Does that mean the width is the same as a SXR? If not, what is the width and length?

The BC thread is closed???

In the thread in the New Products section, Steve mentioned how much running length the BC had. Can't believe this thread is on page 6.

The hull is 13.5 inches shorter than a superjet. The bottom deck is based off an sxr but then everything has been changed. The keel is wider(for those who don't know what a keel is its the part in the middle of the bottom of the ski that runs length wise) The front chines were also re-designed and are wider, and the rear chines are less aggressive than the sxr (less edgy) so it doesn't have that bite into the water like an sxr has. Bottom deck has front rocker and rear rocker as well as front sponsons. Theres more for sure but I know this much...

Your paint is off the chain!!! Saw it yesterday and the pic you have don't do it justice. Wait till you see the next one that's coming out of the paint booth, going to be a little different but hope y'all like the color combos. And...... you will get to see a chan with a recessed front foothold( that will act as a coupler cover and will be able to have a stock e-box mounted horizontally on top of the ffh, its pretty trick :) )

You're getting a FFH? Will your ski be Carbon Kevlar?

That other thread is back open... Ya'll chill out!!!

I don't want my build thread becoming the BC info thread, but I found that post.

Now about the hull . The bottom is based off a Sxr ...cut short as hell ,,front rocker ,rear rocker ,Wider ,different tubbies ... Yamaha pump and intake track . It takes a 2 inch extended intake grate but we have inserts for the mold to go a plus 4 ... I will say thou the readability with bigger then a plus 2 intake is very very strictly flat water ...it will also except up to a 160 pump as that's the biggest we tested ...the rear has a full width ride plate to change the attitude of how it rides and you can play with length for your weight ... The hull with flush plate has a 71 inch running surface .. The overall is 77 inch tip to tip ...

its a glass hull and its sitting in the booth right now... Im heading over there around 5 to make sure the hold is all good and its time to lay down some paint :)

So just out of curiosity...is there going to be a picture of Juan anywhere on your ski swapmeet? I'm thinking something to this effect maybe?

LOL that would be awesome...

So little update... thanks to XJ Crawler I got a hold of Glen at Jet Dynamics today about the +2 intake grate for my JJ. What a cool dude and a wealth of knowledge. He chatted with me about surface tension theories and why he puts a rough texture on his intakes. I'm typically a "polish it" kind of guy and it would appear thats completely wrong. Go figure... So yeah, I placed my order and learned something today!

And, for the picture whores like myself... I got this little gem from Steve last night.

And since I started typing this... Steve just called to get my shipping address...

Its gonna be a biotch to shim and check the gaps on the coupler....

Wow really nice paint! IMO i think this is one of the better looking BC hull the colors all flow really nice. And hornedogg his green hull is another one of my favs. But they all look really good keep up the good work Steve and lets see these skis perform and blow peoples minds so there will be no more room for BS talk.
