Custom/Hybrid Kawasaki 550sx-91 with a Yamaha 61X 701 engine.

A few months ago I bought a 550sx -91 with a silver engine (reed).

The engine was broken and it didn’t look good ...

I have bought a new engine from England and it's a Yamaha 61X 701 from Superjet -95.

It’s on the way to Sweden now!

It will be a really fun project for me in the winter and it will be ready in spring 2017!

There is a lot of work and I have only just begun.

I have clean the hull (it was really dirty) and I have painted it (did that for a few weeks ago).

I have filed the battery box a little to adjust for the conversion plates, it is not finished, I have to put in the engine, and customize it to be correct.

I must also order some more things.

Digging it. Those Rhaas parts look to make for a nice conversion process. The outside of that hull looks quite immaculate.

I have mounted water tank and the exhaust pipe in the hull now.

I have adapted the exhaust pipe and it was much better than before.

I'm looking for a fuel tank (karting) 2.25 gallon or 2.5 gallon.

I've got the engine today!

It looks a little "so-so" but I'll paint it and make it nice.

I'll pick out everything from CDI box and clean it.

I have ordered a the fuel tank (karting) 2:25 gallon (8.5liter), fuel line, primer line and water line

I also bought some things from from Ebay.

Now I am just waiting on things to come and in the meantime I will paint engine.

Looks awesome. What pump setup are you going with? I have one of these conversions (it looks no where near as nice) and I love it. I am using a straight 19* prop from Impros and a stubby pump cone. These skis are so much fun.

I have painted finished engine today.
I've fixed cdi box and painted it but I miss some things to it.
I'm still waiting for some things from Blowsion.


I have impeller 14/17 * skat-trak on it but I'm looking for a 19 * or
I'll buy rhaas swap 750 jet pump, I'll see later what it will be.

Time for an update!

It was the engine ready painted and everything is shiny!

A few days ago I received packages from the blowsion!!

The package contained a Karting fuel tank 2.25 gallons (8.5 liters) and some other small stuff!

I have begun to adapt the engine in 550SX but it was tight with the original exhaust system.

I'm looking for a Kawasaki 650sx exhaust and manifold B-pipe (Superjet).

I have also ordered new coils and wire, a little longer than the original that’s much shorter.

I have started to fix the hull and there were ugly stickers on it that I removed.

I take the opportunity to repair it on, and later I'll paint it white so it should be fine but it is not so important.

Jetskin will be used, run and have fun with!

Why a cart tank? The oem tank fits, just a tad lopsidded.

Where you able to find the recommended battery (can't remember what it was)? I couldn't so I ended up using a lithium which turned out to be a strong ass impressive battery.

I'm curious how the 550 pump works out, the 440 pump can't handle it. Even with a 19/21 the engine can blow it out at any rpm. I can't wait to pump a 750 pump in it and swap it over to a rear exhaust 550sx.

I absolutely love mine though. Call her ratski. I found the hull on a dirt road and all I did was pressure wash it, throw a 61x/61x in it and toss on some straight bars. Can't wait to see yours done. Looks great so far.

goddamn, did jaws hit that 440? and what you talking about 28hp? a stock 701 is around 70hp depending on the year ski its from. There is no way in hell i would even consider running anything other than a 701 yami.

A little update!

The hull is completed painted, the engine is in place and it was prefect!
I received packages from the blowsion with MSD coil, it’s better than my old OEM coil!

Now, this project is finished!
Very fun to work with and many problems arose but it's cleared up now.
I'll keep you updated.
Unfortunately I can’t test the jetski now because the sea is so cold here in Sweden now.
I have to wait to test it to the summer of 2017.

I'll pick up some jetski inabout two weeks and it’s highly exciting!
I can start a new project and fix a new thread if it’s interesting !?
