Got nothing to do with its power. Longer rods does not make it a stroker motor. It is just a different design. The SXR800 engine is actually designed for more bottom end than top. I have ridden plenty of SXRs with Mild to Heavy mods that I would love to put in my Superjet.
How does it differ or compare to a 750 sp or Bp? I've only ridden the 800 in the sxr hull and it is hard to say it has bottom since its in a heavy hull and usually propped for racing.
I've ridden a 650sx mostly stock (44carb stock pipe and compression) and in x2 I have had 750sp with westcoast pipe (not bored) and fpp as well as a 750bp with fpp and superjet waterbox. None of these combinations really seemed to come on early in the power. Rpms seemed to have to be higher than with the yamaha motor.
It's important to me that a motor can hit on the bottom and run a reasonable wot rpm so it can be raced too. My Superjet does this. Hits right off idle to 7200 rpm.
Not saying the kawi can't do it. Actually hoping you know something more than I do. Ryan has a 750sp single 44 coffman 650 pipe westcoast manifold westcoast water box 12/18.5 small hub prop. Doesn't hit until 2500 then makes plenty the rest of the way. Mine is a 750bp dual 44 fpp sj limited using westcoast manifold to sj waterbox and 2" exhaust. I am over proped at 14/19 c75 doesn't hit until 3500 then it's an arm yanker to 7200. Going to prop down to 13/18 but not sure I can get that hit off idle without getting too much rpm. Kawi actually seems to hit harder, just much later, afraid proping down to get more power is going to push me into the 7600-7800 rpm range when racing, not sure that is safe.
