i finnaly got around to doing my fuelfiller mod to my tank. i went to put my ski togather last night and found that i'd forgotten all about it :banghead: so i put togather what i could and brought the tank to work with me this morning, i found the cap for the filler tube at ace hardware, like $5 then a holesaw, some filing, some superblack silicone, and it's done!!

will that plumbing cap hold up to gasoline?

I was wondering what to use to seal that off.

who has used what and how long does it last?

i wasn't sure of this myself, but i figured that if it's not, it'll take a while for it to wear off!!! j/k i had to use one on my tractor to block off the fuel bowl when the glass broke till i could find another glass, it sat for a little over a month. looked fine when i took it off.....

just because i'm a freak about testing things, and just to make me feel better, i set the tank on it's side, put water in it over the new filler and set it on a dry spot to see if it leaked, i left it for about 4 hours...no leak so that's always good!!!

ok, i remembered my camera today:arms: well, first off, putting my handpole and cables in, i ran across a very simple fix for getting the steering cable through the thru-hull fitting in the pump area....this may be well known info, but a newbie like me might read this and need this info...

i just took some carb vent hose i had laying around for my mx bikes, pushed it from the rear into the engine bay. pushed it onto the end of the cable threads, and pulled it right through... instead of it hitting on the fitting in the pvc

and in the engine bay, i glued my rubber pads down with 3m 5200, don't know how well that's gonna stick, but i don't have any skis that these pads are actually glued down in...they're all flopping around, so i figure they probably don't stay glued very long :dunno:

I have used a rubber plumbing cap for the last 2 month's, and no issues so far.:fingersx:
Me to. I started using one when I switched over to my new hull in November. Got the $3 one from Lowe's.
