Reading comprehension isnt a strong point in this thread. I said I was stopped by the same cop, by himself, multiple times for the same things. Its not illegal to not have my reg stickers on my boat, and he knows that. Therefore pulling me over for that is harassment. Plain and simple. I didnt plow headlong at boats, nor go within a 100 feet of them. i dont think I ever admitted to doing anything illegal in my entire rant. Unlike some people admitting to speeding or coming close to boats. hell 2 times I hadnt even started my ski and was at the launch.

Agreeing with the cops, tree huggers and other douches is going to get this sport gone. Look at guns and 4x4 trails. People tried being nice, people tried to do the right thing. Guess what? IT DOESNT WORK. Your fun is going to be regulated out from under you while you stand idly by defending the ones doing it. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

Glad the mentality up here seems to be on my side of the fence. Im done with this thread, opinions wont change. Sorry again about stirring the pot.

Yeah, and being a dick to the cops is surely going to help. If an officer spots a violation, he can stop you for it. It's not harassment. It's a violation that you refuse to correct because you want to have your ski painted. Either paint the ski or put some stickers on there and be done with it. Not all cops are out to screw with you. And I almost question your sanity when you claim the stops are profiling. How are you being profiled? Are you a member of a protected class? Do you feel like the officer just wants to pull you over because you're on a ski? Or maybe because you "stood your ground" and he now thinks of you as an asshole and he wants to twist your screws every time he sees you. We all know how effective it is to remind a cop that you pay his paycheck and that you can have his badge by the end of the day.

And do you think for even a second that Officer Friendly carries around a calendar to remind himself of each time he's stopped you? Lord, I hope not. Do you really think he knows, or even cares, when your 70 days is up? Again, he sees a violation and initiates a stop.

Either make it a supreme court case or fix the problem. You're obviously not going to get any sympathy here.

Well, Damn, there you go, State experation Sticker is not adhered to your hull............ Stick the damn sticker on your ski and you might not get pulled over.

ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO NOT HAVE THE STICKER ON THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE KNOWS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO NOT HAVE THE STICKER ON THERE!!!!!

Therefore he cannot stop me solely for that. THATS THE LAW!

Laugh about your rights all you want, thats exactly why they get taken away from us. THANKS

I was told by both my dmv, and the cop who signed off my ticket. I do not have to have the stickers affixed to the hull for 70 days but must carry them on the craft. I didnt ask why. I assumed was because lots of people take boats to water to work on them, they break, and then get fully restod, or soemthing along those lines. Paint was my idea.

So you had them on the craft with you and it had been less than 70 days?
Why did the cop sign a ticket if it wasn't a violation?

Copied directly from the pdf version of ABC's of California Boating......

Along with your boat registration number, DMV will also issue you a set of
registration stickers. Numbers and stickers issued at the time of registration
must be placed on each side of the forward half of the vessel, usually on the
bow (see the figures below). Registration stickers must be securely affixed
three inches aft of, and in line with, the registration numbers. The number
must be visible from each side of the vessel. No other numbers, letters or
devices may be placed in the vicinity of the state-assigned number.

And on the profiling. Yes they do profile stand up jet ski riders here. All the time. When I see a boat that obviously has 10 drunk people screaming their heads off being retarded on it, go by me while im being lit up on my ski at black butte, im going to assume hes profiling, or flat out doesnt like jet skis. That incident was on a fully legit sj.

I am kinda arrogant, and feel some entitlement, yes. This is my state just as much it is yours. I will enjoy it how I see fit, and people that try to invade on that will have to go through me to make that happen. I lost my guns, Im losing my trails, I REFUSE to lose my water.

I was given the ticket because the cop didnt know the law. Thats why it got signed off by a different cop. Thats exactly what I said in the beggining and why I was claiming harassment.

edit; normally I dont hijack threads this bad man, I apologize, chits gettin way off track

I take it you're writing your legislators on the state and national level then?
Contacting local/state media?
Petitions?
AWA member?

Or are you content with just hassling the cop back?

From your own mouth...

You may not have to have the sticker affixed to the craft but he CAN stop you to make sure you are carrying the required sticker on the craft. How is he supposed to know you're legal if you're just carrying it? Writing you a ticket may been wrong in this instance but I'm guessing he wrote it because you were being a jerk about it. If I was a cop and you gave me hell, I'd write you a ticket too. So what if it gets thrown out. The time and effort you'll go through getting it thrown out, for being a jerk, will keep many people employed and will really piss you off to the point where you SHOULD (key word here) learn your lesson.

The first time, I'd tell the cop "thank you for not writing me a ticket, have a great day!". If he pulled me over again, I'd tell him "I'm very sorry but I'm about to paint my hull and that's why it isn't on there but if it's a problem, I'll put the sticker on there right now and get a replacement when I paint it".

If I start seeing riders act like that on my lake, it won't matter if jetskiing gets banned because I won't be riding anymore for the sole purpose of not wanting to associate myself with jerks like that.

Haha no worries, its been interesting. I have my numbers, reg sticker, reg papers, and fire extinguisher on board. I'm 100 percent legit in that reguard. I was mainly annoyed at the fact she was telling me as well as my riding buddies we could not ride within 100 feet of another vessel, i.e. each other. Your telling me that my buddy and i cant cruise next to each other? Bullsh!t.

It was Folsom lake btw for whoever asked. It's pretty heavily patrolled as is, but I think the people (the family of fat asses) next to us called on us.
