You mean give up racing.............. Blasphemy................ Stop with that forked tongue witch doctor poop..........
Ahha, I really laughed out loud on this one. Aw hell naw, racing is my love. My husband is building the ProForce and his '15 Superjet was going to be kicked off the trailer and puy in storage. If it works out I can sell the SXR and do what I said I'd never do and race a Superjet while he plays with his toy. That'll hopefully get the Rickter bankrolled. But you know how best made plans go...

It seems like racing is a bit more accessible on the lower levels. I do enjoy it, but would love to get into freestyle too. The community is awesome though, it was surprising how many people reached out to me to get back to working on my skis.

it is, but Freestyle is fun also. I dont know how many times someones ski would crap out and another competitor would say "take mine", or even in mid routine. Michael Ratti snapped his XMetal pole once, I hoped on mine and ran out and jumped off and grabbed his, he finished on mine! Great group of guys (and girls now!)

Bam, rode the biatch through probably a little more than 3 gallons yesterday.

Engine seemed OK, did a little tuning with the new carbs. Both plugs were pretty even when I looked at them and richened up a bit to be safe as they looked a little grey. Was hard to tell since they were so new though, need a bit more time on 'em. Engine has good pop and power, will just stand on the jet. Once again I could only just bloop because of other issues though. I looked like a little nerd, but had fun anyway haha.

So, other issues are:

OEM Yamaha 760 intake clearance is pretty bad. I need to cut the hood back some more, but I'll try to get some pics of it later. Since there are so few of these out there it is a long shot, but anyone running a OEM intake on their Footrocket? I love it other than that, even with my water issues I finally didn't ingest any into the engine.

Hood seal is useless. I tightened the front pin so much that I couldn't get the hood off without a screw driver and basically sitting on it to compress it. And it still got copious amounts of water in it. Is there an aftermarket hood seal anyone can recommend that works better? Any time the front went under the hull filled with water so I had to be careful-ish and try to keep the nose up.

I'm getting a ton of water in from the back pump area. I already sealed my scupper, but I think it is coming through the trim and throttle connections? I didn't think it would allow that much water in, but if it sits for a couple minutes on shore it seems to fill up enough to let my bilge pump pump out a huge stream for 5-10 seconds or so.

That seems about it for stuff keeping me from really riding it. I do hate the throttle lever, guess I am spoiled from the UMI one I've always had on my skis. The Kavinci lever takes so much effort to pull and the sharpness is lame.

Anyway, here are some riding pics

And I uploaded a 120fps slomo video to FB...not sure how to embed it here. Here is the link to FB:

And if that doesn't work I embedded it at the bottom of the page on my blog:

In your ride video it looks like your hood is not seated correctly. How large is the gap between the hood and hull when the hood is affixed? Can you snap some close ups. You may need to fine tune the hood hooks in the tray area or look for something that it is bottoming out on keeping it from dropping down completely and sealing correctly

That is how it always has been *shrugs*
I did the dollar pull test with it pressed down pretty hard and no dice. Could be hitting something and I just don't know it, but doesn't seem to be. Other than the intake now and that is in the back and I was getting water in it before the intake. I need to put a GoPro in there with a light and ride it lol. Siliconed the tubes up front for good measure. I can't see a gap, but doesn't mean there isn't one there...espcially if the tubes move as the pole moves.

Re-siliconed the scupper and trim/steering bungs. Not sure when I'll ride next with Mother's day on Sunday, maybe Monday and I can do some more testing.

Try removing the hood hooks and rachet strap it down and try the dollar bill test again. Even if you don't have the rachet strap setup on the ski just go around the hull and hood with one. That should tell you if your hooks are in the wrong spot and keeping it from setting low enough to press agents the seal

you are the reason
I rode a .50 cal this last weekend. He got towed in with water in his engine. He suspected water was coming straight by the hood seal into carbs. Never verified. I did notice it was a strange seal indeed though, perhaps just finicky with the hood prongs cause as he racketed it down it tightened up. I'm sure the seal is an issue irregardless. Erik is tuned into this thread I bet.

I'm planning running by Lowes to pick up a bolt for the strap to install today. Seems like a good place to start. Bothers me a strap is 'necessary' to seal it, but I'm sure there are worse things to be miffed about so might as well accept it lol.

List of people/companies I would trust to build me a rtr ski.View attachment 333188

Most don't realize how much attention to detail and time it takes to really get a ski "right". It's all little stuff like this that can "sink your ski"......pun intended.
I don't hate Krash, and as I said in my review - I would buy another of their hulls again. RTR ski? Heck no. Everything but the hull has been a disappointment.

One of the reasons I went with the OEM 760 intake, been there.

before you drill a hole and bolt a strap on, do like Jyzmbe said, just strap the hood down around the hull with a ratchet strap tie down.

You only rode it for 3 gallons of gas, give it some time

I only rode it for three gallons because of the water intrusion issues. If I could fix the hood I would ride it for longer, engine seems to be in good shape.

I am not disappointed in the riding, not at all what I meant. Just the delivery, build problems and some components have been a disappointment. Quality just isn't there, but you get what you pay for.

Yeah I get that for testing, but I need to install the strap anyway since I want to go to the ocean. So might as well do it now while I'm on the hood subject.

I bet your hood hooks/prongs in rear are too tight and not allowing the front to sit all the way down. A strap isnt necessary but it sure is good insurance to prevent the hood on any ski from shifting after taking a good flop or role in the surf.

Found my problem, bummer, but at least now I know.

Installed the hood strap, easy peasy. Hood pin latched and tight, hood strap tight. I'm guessing this is what the front center looks like, apparently there is a lot of water coming in from the sides too.

The part that dips down is the hood seal, silvery gray part is the inner hood seal valley painted fiberglass lip, and the black part bowing up is the hood lip itself. Big gap there with everything tight. I have a video that illustrates better and will upload when I'm out of the garage. Looks like 1/2 to 3/4 cm gap and the hood bows up like that for over 12 inches on this side.

Did you take the hood prongs off for that test? Is your hood flat and true on a flat surface? Not the floor...
