Custom/Hybrid Krash Ind. Foot Rocket

The video I've seen makes it look super tight. Not too sure on the entire back of the ski being a ride plate; could be a total bust or a new trend if it picks up. I'd like to see some more reviews

Rides absolutely fantastic and unlike anything else I've ever tried. Super fun boat.

Please elaborate...

Nick offered that I ride it early on Thursday. I didn't take him up on that offer until late Sunday when I was beat and tired from riding all weekend. I honestly didn't expect much of such a short hull.
I took it out and tried to warm up to it. And then it happened - I did not want to bring it back in. The hull is so short that it took getting used to seeing so little hull in front of me. The tray is super wide.
The way you place your foot in the front foothold has you put your forward foot right on the pivoting point of the hull. Just by shifting your weight slightly the hull does whatever you demand of it.
If you think of turning, it will turn. If you want it to ride nose-high, it will do so. If you want it to stay planted, just shift your weight back.
I was able to surf-ride it just like my Freak, but quicker handling. Much quicker. It has the flickability of a BOB (and more) with stability like a Freak. Within minutes I was surfing down waves and doing re-entries. I did not fall a single time. Stan told me it handles like a skate board. I agree - super agile, yet very stable.
I came back in with a huge grin on my face and ready to hand Nick and his dad a deposit. I know what my next hull will be.

PS: This boat had the best setup DASA 850 SS I've ever tried. Great work Carl.

I think the adjustable ride plate is awesome. this gives you the best of both worlds. You can go shorter for flat water and small surf or longer for big surf. The ski length being adjustable in my opinion is great allowing the rider to set the ski up for how they want it to handle and conditions they plan on riding. I do believe the long plate makes this ski the same length as the jb-1 hull. I would like to ride one of these. Matt a ride report would be nice!

Who has gotten one of these and what do you think? Fit and finish? Easy to assemble? How does it ride? Can it be titled or does it require a donor H.I.N.?

We debut ours last weekend at the surf slam, Nick took home best trick with it
and it looks like Matt and a couple others rode it as well
we will have at at the world finals as well

I rode both Carls and Staton High's Foot Rocket this last weekend at Surf Slam. I spent more time doing ariels on Carls boat (flips, rolls) while I spend most of the time on Stantons boat surf riding.

To say the least, I was super impressed on how well the hull handled, it was super responsive, did what you told it, and was very nimble allowing you to do tricks rather effortlessly. When riding stans boat I actually had to be carefully because the hull handled too well and didn't want to catch an edge while riding down a large face.

I've had my eye on a JB-1 for a while but always wanted to ride one first. After riding the foot rocket in the surf, I am sure the JB-1 would be a good choice for me if it's ANYTHING like the foot rocket.

So everyone like the way it rides, anyone have answers to my original questions?

Who has gotten one of these and what do you think?

Not yet, but I will be ordering one.

Fit and finish? Easy to assemble?

Fit and finish are ok. The inside is a little rough due to the layup being dry, then it's resin infused.
I cannot personally comment on assembly.

How does it ride?

There are a couple ride reports in this thread.

Can it be titled or does it require a donor H.I.N.?
Answered in post 2.

Here's a few pics of the last couple I've done.

Assemble is reasonably straight forward. A little more time consuming compared to a rickter as you have to fit the pole bracket, hood hooks and prongs, and a few other little bits and pieces but its no big deal, and all part of setting things up the way you like it. Like any a/m hull the most imprtant part (imo) is to take the time to get the pump shoe and pump lined up perfectly, once this is done right everything else goes together alot easier.

Lots of options on how you like your footholds, ride plate / tail plate lengths, tubbies, engine position etc etc. al of which can be adjusted at any time.

I have been riding a footrocket (flat water set up with a dasa 1100) for about 9 months. They are quite neutral to ride, lean back the nose comes up, lean forward the nose goes down. As already mentioned they are very light compared to some other hulls on the market. They turn really well and the sponson and fin options enhance this for the more aggressive riders. Flips and rolls are a breeze. I would love to see someone with some serous flat water skills put my ski through its paces.

I still went with a JB1 for my new surf boat, as I find it easier to ride in big surf or on messy days. However I am most likely going to build myself a "all rounder" which will be a foot rocket with a 850 for smaller surf and/or more aggressive Ariel tricks. And it will still be a very capable flatwater boat should my 1100 be off the water for maintenance.

Here are some pics of the last few skis I have been working on. One is a full carbon Kevlar footrocket with a 1200, the next is a glass footrocket with a 10mm stroker dasa 1100, and the last one is my new surf boat, a JB1 with a 701, msd TL, ada head and b pipe (this thing is proving to be a heap of fun!)

My Footrocket is Sick. Handles better than any boat I have ridden. Splash guard is a must and is going on today. Gonna go back throught the boat and re-tighten everything today and get ready for the weekend. This boat will not dissapoint you. Come to miller park this weekend and try it for yourself.

The carbon kevlar 1200 (which is a surf lay up) was a 30.8kg for just the hull from memory (70lbs). and we wieghed the completeski and got 117kg (258lbs) rtr, this is with a big lead acid battery it will be down to about 113kg (249lbs) once we fit up a lithium unit. Pretty light rtr given the extra wieght of the 1200 engine and 148 pump. The same ski in glass surf lay up would be about 8-10lbs heavier.(nick may correct me on this).
