hey guys!
havent chimed in on the footrocket here yet so here is my review and ride report.
i love it.
i took a chance on building the tiny footrocket hull from krash industries, on a hunch that this hull will be the next generation of surf riding and jetskiing in general. leaving my sj for something almost 14" shorter, i was nervous to say the least, but determined that i would make it work and not lose any of my surf style. i got the heavy surf fiberglass layup that comes in at around 80lbs, a solid 40 lbs less than the sj. first impression is wow, this thing is too small. it came as a bare hull with no mounting holes drilled, good idea for the hundreds of different setups out there. no liner in the hood so its breather bracket only. i ran 4 ft hoses to keep the water out, working great so far. had to smash on my waterbox to get it to fit, dented corners in on the bottom and the top for the breather hoses to clear. i hear even the xmetal doesnt fit, so custom dents were the best option! haha my limited chamber JUST fits in the hull with the motor in, its just big enough to not be a pita. everything went together really well, mock ups are needed though.
im running the long tail plate and im going to be experimenting with some different shapes, should be real interesting having the whole width, chines, and rocker to play with. tubbies are on and i NEED to install the splash guard, the nose pushes water up alot when the hull is planed out on an even keel.
so after riding it for a few good sessions im in love and keep finding more reasons as i learn to trust its incredible handling. i set mine up with maximized steering throw and it turns on a dime, literally will make you dizzy if you dont spot your spins. ive started working on some surf riding that ive dreamed of doing with my old boat and been totally surprised that im already snapping top turns off the lip, sliding 360s down the face, and carving bottom turns using the 45degree rails harder than i ever could. its amazing that it does all this and still hasnt done anything weird like kick me off or spin out. the ride is very slick, but the rails grab and dig the pump in whenever you need it to. ive ridden just about all the rickters, freaks, lightweights, and bobs, and the footrocket is something different and very special.
im still getting used to how it airs, but ive already gotten one foot flips down, flatspin 3s, and feels like it will do whatever i can dream up so im dreaming big. ive never liked footholds or really even used them, but this krash foothold is different than anything ive felt. dont kick in, just rock your foot in and its locked. i still ride in my footstraps always but figured i might as well learn that
and do the easy way for once.
the hull is super balanced, your body is right at the center of rotation so you can control it with your weight much better. lean it on a rail, turn sub, power 360s, slide 180s, all with much more control than a superjet. you can lean it forward and bury the nose, and lean back and rock it into a tailstand, forward again and pull out without putting a foot down.
i really do see this hull as the future and im super stoked to be on the cutting edge of technology and progression of the sport. your going to be seeing alot more footrockets invading the us soon so be prepared for the krash army invasion!!
