I don't have any shims with my couch mounts my bed plates didn't come drilled and I had to spread them out farther from each other and shave down the bed plates a little bit. The couch mounts were too tall

I was the test dummy on the starter kits. I had the first kavinci pump also. Nick Barton worked very close with me to go over potential consumer concerns and quality control checks to make sure these kits are as easy and fun as advertised.

Nick really cares about moving this sport forward. You can tell when you talk to him. Every concern I had he promptly took care of.

Yup that has been my experience. Im ok with having to fiddle with the amall stuff if it helps grow my sport.

Anyone else have trouble getting the hood on?

I dont get why any company has to use a customer for the test run of a starter kit. How hard is it to take a hull from production. gather all the parts. and assemble. Making notes of all issues.

How do you mean? The hood needs hood holds for sure to lift it on and off. The pin on the latching system sticks cause its tight for good reason. Just push down on it to compress the hood seal. You could adjust the post for the pin but then you might leak water

the pin works perfect and keeps the front nice and tight but the rear is a pain to get on. I think the rear on the seal just needs to get worn in.

The only way to get the rear hooks in now is to loosen them, then tighten back down.

The hood has an inner lip too, is it rubbing on your air intake? Im running a prok intake on a 61x (stroker big bore) and it hitd the hood lip just barely

My prongs just barely engage and arr a little fiddly. This hull rides soooo nice though. Surf layup slides when you want it to and hilds when it needs to

^^^ what engine and prop are you running? Any pics of the engine compartment and ski?
Me? Non yet, ill snap one tonight. Hpe ported and assembled 61x case, +5 adr rebuilt short rod crank, wetjet intake with blackjack 46 and jetworks reeds. Blowsion big bore sleeves ported and installed also by matt. He was not a huge fan of their initial timing so might be playing around with deck hight once its tuned and see what we i have, and as of now stock 144mm mapped pump and 9/15 hooker. Still on my first tank of gas but it comes on hard at 1/2 throttle. Want to play with low speed before lowering cyl deck hight. Which matt suggested i might want to do. I am very happy with his work so far.

I had to adjust my hood hooks slightly. Fits perfect now, I'll still run a ratchet strap once I start flipping. Not sure how confident I am that this hood won't pop off if you pancake it.

Cam locks are 1inx1in 316 SS "cooler tie downs" or "kayak paddle board straps" ive used them on my 2 previous skis so far and they havnt failed yet. The one thing that bugs me is the application of the graphics. They seem to be a vinyl sticker clear coated. There are a few wringles in the application, this hraphic was bot intended for this hull, that were cut into with the buffer after clear coat was applied. Also you can see it pops and wrinckles if torqued on. I love the look of this graphic but not the execution so much. Also CHECK EVERY BOLT! my bow eye bolt were long enough to engage ONE thread. Also the layup is thick! Be perpared to true up and counter sink from the inside if you plan to run bilge switch or primer in the locations i did.
