I have a 5mm wetsuit that I use in lake Mi during the winter but I dont like it as much as my dry suit... I think the dry suit is the way to go but it all comes down to your own preference. I get better movement out of my drysuit and stay at a better/ more constant temp i think. I find that with the wet suit I get hot and then cold more often. My wet suit might be a little to small/tight for me so make sure you get a wetsuit that fits you right!! Also the core of my body does not usually get wet with the 5mm wetsuit, you stay fairly dry actually. Also the drysuit is much quicker for me to put on and off and then when you take it off you are alread dressed. I wear long johns and swets under my drysuit. -Paul

Hmm tempting debate. Im not sure yet. Whats it like wearing a drysuit? I will be getting a perfectly fit wet suit. With 7mm wetsuit booties and gloves. And wearing a helmet.

I'm using a Ripcurl F-Bomb 4/3 in waters as low as 35 degrees with air as low as 25 degrees.
I am also wearing neoprene socks, wrestling shoes, and a tour coat.

im cold in a 4/3 in 55deg water.... definitely go with a 6/5/4 ...drysuits are lame...ever see anybody surfing in a drysuit??..you cant piss in it and they are baggy so it can get caught on stuff and rip..and they also look ridiculous....who wants to swim while they are wearing sweatpants and socks lol

I scored a MUSTANG gortex drysuit on ebay with booties , gortex is the way to go if you can ,your sweat will actually migrate from you body out to the lake regardless of the temps which i think is amazing IMO , keeping you mildly damp instead of wet , wear anything you like under it , ie '' sweats '' as far as pissing mine has a piss zipper so you dont have to take it all off .big winter swells/ way off shore/ you dress for survival in low temps in case you break down or get hurt or whatever ... its not a fashion show FWIW

What do ya do when ya gotta pee in a dry suit!? Cause when l get cold,it seems like l have to pee that much more! Does this mean l have a "going" problem? lol

Seriously,what do ya do?

How about a catheter?

Hand warmers and foot warmers are great. But, thigh warmers are hard to find. This is why a dry suit is not the answer. In a quality wetsuit, provided you consume enough courage, your urine becomes the thigh warmer.

BTW: It's probably not a good idea to listen to anything that guys from Florida have to say on this subject!
