I just was curious as to what happens when someone gets caught with a blaster VIN on a superjett... did not think it would be that big of a deal. I was wrong. the vin that comes on an xft is useless in most states.the state assighns the vin,not the builder.

We should be talking hins not vins and the builder supplies the hin.

oem boats get a hin from the manufacturer.

so yami, kawi, and seadoo have to get vin #s from each state before they can ship those ski's to those states? that just doesn't sound right. i thought they built the ski's and put the vin's on when they are built, they don't wait on the state that the ski is going to to assign them a vin.

It's not the individual state where the ski is sold that issues the original vin. The state where the manufacturer is located issues the vin number to that munufacturer.

oem boats also come with mso's.these hulls just like choppers are considered special construction like a kit car.most states will want receipts for all the parts so they can charge the appropriate tax.

I paid sales tax on my WCF hull, so I didn't have to pay any additional tax to the DMV. If I remember correctly I paid about $12 total to have my ski properly registered.

whats the chances of getting caught (or cough)? specially if you are switching a vin tag from the same type of machine. IE a busted superjet hull to a un busted SJ hull. how would any one every find out?

I would imagine that is a dealer registration he is running,thats totally a different ball game ,I can buy those also ,up to 5 all the same number,they are meant for test rides and such and replace whatever reg numbers are on the ski or boats,that means I can test ride boats with no reg numbers or non current regs without a problem.
