The pros (and I mean the REAL pros that compete) might benefit from a rule change to make their runs 3min, instead of 2. It would give them a chance to do more technical tricks without having to worry about packing everything into such a short timeframe. The additional time would also require more stamina to pull the bigger tricks at the end of a run. Pull off a few low impact moves that please the crowd, and WOW them at the end with a HUGE display.

Damn guys, wait for the day of the contest to judge, Lenzi was just warming up/practicing...

Sheesh....

:twak:

Oh, I think Lenzi is a serious threat to win, but you also have Malone, Rok, and only a couple others that are on par. Any of these handful of guys can have a bad run. It's going to come down to who has the cleanest run, with all the right moves.

I definitely would like to see something more of a routine. Not setup wake, flip, setup wake, br, etc. Combination of a smooth routine and some big tricks.

they almost need something like the racing has gone to.

A pro open with homologised hulls and open setups based on production models. Show unreal skills on a real world machine with attainable for the masses HP numbers. Kinda like how Chad Reed rides a Suzuki that I could moderately copy but never ever throw a lap time within a minute of his.

Then a pro GP (xtreme) where any hull or motor combo could be used. This would, to me, show stamina and skill on a monster like the Q8/Lenzi hulled WDK1200cc 6 1/2 flippers. A class for entertainment.

More so it would diversify the talent and let more guys that have all around skills shine.. 6 1/2 flips? awesome! 1 flip on a modded 701? astonishing!

Just mt 2c

Stoyer and Pat have been showing some great air in practise and hopefully we will get to see some sweet tricks.

I think that backflip paranoia is overrated and hopefully its just a phase in this sport , which will reach a point for everyone to move on to new grounds which might inlcude more hood/other tricks again or flatwater double backflip, double barrel or someone will finalyy figure out how to do the infamous FRONT FLIP beside me.....:arms:

yeah ever since the skis left clearwater I have been pacing and waiting to get any update. I saw them practicing just before they left. From what they said Chuck has made some more improvements to the motors( how do you make awesome even better?!) and those hulls are rediculously light and restyled. Pat honestly looked like he was 10ft in the air. I was thinking_ how long is it before he figures out he can double backie that thing? It should be exciting if nothing else this year.

Not to detract from the skill of multiple backflips in a row but honestly its like at Daytona after the first hour of hundreds of backflips it kinda loses it wow factor. Last year I saw a vid of Roc doing some sort of flip/rotation/roll think. like a flip with a twist. I thougt that was beautiful to watch. but apparantly that trick is old or boring or something cause everyone was like oh yeah one of those. wtf? its not a roll its not flip its both. that instantly became my most desired trick to learn.

true but it still will only hold your attention for so long if everyone just tries to see who can do the most backflips- call guiness and set that up later. now show us some new stuff we will never be able to do!

I think you all have backflip envy that is deeply rooted from childhood trauma.

I agree, I also have barrol roll envy ( I might be able to eliminate this week end ) and $$'s missing or $$ in pocket envy , I am happy with my weight and height so no other envy ;) .

Regardless the Backflips are great and I think that with every new and extremer step a sport takes it always Plateaus before new and different things are achieved....think back on how it was when Mike metzger did the first backflip and how long that went on till recently ....now its a combination and great variation of tricks.

Showtime, Miss the Spain(Ibiza) ski shows! Luke don't be offended, thats the problem in the world, everyone is worried about offending someone. My reps are Japs(from Japan not American/Japanese) and they call me all kinds of slang(because I'm half Rican)! In Pro-freestyle, I'm routing for Bogie. Because he's 62 years old and he has 10 children and 5 grandchildren not counting the 5 children that him and Lisa are godparents to(including mine) Uh oh.... Cali is probably gonna be offended by that, But not Bogie he's got leather skin(from old age):)
