Let's get this show on the road- where to stay

OK, found that house. That house is on the corner of Lantana and Dunes. Its a block off the beach. From there you drive up the beach a few blocks past the pier and you can camp there. Unfortunately the renters of this house may have mislead you about the camping. You cannot camp until a few blocks north of the pier or Marker 27+ which is south of Beach access road 1. The house is right by the Pier. The surf there is ok but not as good as it is south. This is where we rode the channel last fall. If everyone books this house, Us campers should put a base camp just north of the pier after the pylons or a mile south at marker 27. These are our only options as this is the only place you can camp anywhere near the this house.

I Binged it. Lantana comes out right at the pier like the picture on that houses site. Its right off the beach. It's a good spot unless we have a bunch of campers. I was planning on bringing ours but we could always get a room. I was just thinking of the other campers.

I'm looking at the areal of the house. It's a block off the beach with a parking lot and two tennis courts in the way.v I would love to be wrong but I'm certain this is the house.

Yea, that's it. We can camp very close on the beach just north of the pier. 1 block north. But the house is a ways off the beach. All I was saying is its not Calypso. It will work just fine. It will be better if there are more campers to set up a nice beach camp. We will be limited on waves a bit in that area though. We have the channel there too though. That was a blast! Cool thing is this cam is from right in front of the house: http://corpusbeach.com/portacam2.htm

I know about houses in Port A, but they have a few on the beach further
south. You can pull your camper up all day but you cannot stay over night untill past marker 27. That's what I said a few posts back.

Anyways, If you look north of the pier on the surf cam http://corpusbeach.com/portacam2.htm, you will see pylons going out to the beach. From there north to the jetty we can camp. Its not too bad a walk from the house. The surf can be good there. If anything it's a little cleaner but a little smaller. It's a good spot because the jetty is right there and there are always big fishing boats with huge wakes!

Sub,

I'm not trying to offend you here. It's just that I stay at Port A several times a year. There are plenty of houses on Port A's beach. They are right on the beach. The biggest problem is that most of them are booked already. The other problem is the riding area. The area next to the pier is very crowded with swimmers. You cannot ride 500 ft from the pier on both sides. you cannot beach launch for at least a mile south of there. If you go north, you have to pay Nueces county to stay there $12 per night and there are a bunch of rules and crap. It sucks! The best place for us to camp is south near marker 29. This is just south of beach access road 29. There it is free to camp with your required parking permit. There is good surf, and you can pull right up to the beach. It is also patrolled less and there are less swimmers. I have made some calls this morning to the parks and such. It will be best fore campers to plan on camping south of marker 27.

OK, I checked this out. Any lawyers out there that can figure this out? This is where we can and cant ride/launch.

Sec. 18-59. Launching of motorized craft from the beach. No motorized watercraft, including, but not limited to, motor boats and jet skis, may be launched or loaded from the public beach at any location from the southmost boundary of Nueces County, Port Aransas Beach Park south to Access Road 1.

(Ord. No. 95-8, § 1, 6-15-95)

Sec. 18-60. Prohibition of operation of motorized watercraft near the beach.
No motorized watercraft, including, but not limited to, motor boats and jet skis, may be operated within the following area: A line commencing at the point where the southmost boundary of the Nueces County, Port Aransas Beach Park intersects the line of high tide on the beach and extending in an easterly direction, perpendicular and at a ninety (90) degree angle to the beach, into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, a distance of two hundred fifty (250) feet to a point (the first line); thence, in a southerly direction parallel to the beach along the waters of the Gulf of Mexico to a point perpendicular and at a ninety (90) degree angle to the first line (the second line); thence, in a westerly direction perpendicular and at a ninety (90) degree angle to the beach and to the second line, a distance of two hundred fifty (250) feet to the line of high tide on the beach nearest the centerline of Access Road 1 (the third line).

(Ord. No. 95-9, § 1, 6-15-95)

So basicaly, we can't ride north of beach acces road 1 till north of the pier park where we rode last year. Beach acces road 1 is at about marker 25.

LOL, yea. Notice I changed marker 29 to 27. 27-35 is the camping area. You can ride and launch ther as you please. You can also ride dirt bikes I think. So, sub, sry that house is a ways up the beach from there. They must have misled you a bit about the camping. There are other houses down the beach. Maybe you could back out since you just booked it. This sucks. If you can't back out, it looks like a good place to stay at least. We can just set up a beach camp 2 miles south around marker 27-29. We'll make it work. If you can cancel, there is a house right on the beach just a few blocks from the camping area. http://www.sandollarsity.com/

Unless there is any dispute, we will be riding between markers 27-29. That is just south of Beech access road 1-A. That is the closest place to port A witch we can legally ride. There is a small place right next to the jetty where we may be able to ride as well. We rode there last year. But there is less surf and the legality of riding there has come into question. Markers 27-29 is where us campers will be. Whoever gets there first should try to save some space so we can set up our base camp there. I'm not sure if I'll make it for Thursday night but I will be there sometime before lunch Friday. Just look for my bright yellow Fx-1. As far as hotels go, there are plenty. It's still to be seen if Sub is going to cancel his rental house plans. I would wait or ask him if he is doing so. Best thing to do is let him decide since he was the first to decide on a house. His rental house is 2 miles from where we can ride but it is practically on the beach and just 5-10 minutes to where we can camp/ride/launch legally.
