We all know that the "B" pipe is king. Lets get some reviews on some other pipes. I'm sure most of us would like to know how to spend our low buck budgets wisely.

I just put a wet pipe on my SX-R and dont have the carbs dialed in yet but it still rips my arms out of the sockets. Pipe Rocks.....

coffman stinger

this is a coffman stinger for a yamaha 650/701. It sucks, but i heard it will add 7 hp over a stock so its better than nothing.

Good idea cuz id like to invest in a B pipe because any sj can use it and its great but I would like to spend around 250-350 for one if I can and dont know anything besides factory pipe.

i have 2 new ends for that pipe so you can dial the hp in as well
they were a great pipe for the 650
i am not sure about the 701
but they will do something better than stock thats for sure

I love my type 9
they dont have the low end grunt of a b-pipe but the mid and top are something else

I thought that was called a Coffman SIZZLER pipe?

ive heard it called that.

Ive got one, it made ok power on a 650, but less than a protec pipe.

Yes its called a sizzler at least thats what coffmans told me. Thats one of the best pipes for the 650. With the right jetting that pipe has killer bottom end. My buddy had a ported 6m6 bored to a 701,head and a protec pipe and my stock 6m6 with a head and that pipe could eat him out of the hole. He had me top end but not on bottom. Now I have His motor with that pipe:wink: Yes on a real 701 that pipe would suck but on the 6m6 cases that pipe rocks. Just not enough volume to handle the 61x or 62t , but I bet its better than stock.

I had a Speedwerx freestyle dry. It was a healthy increase on my old B limited---same bottom, more mid and tons more top end.

Alignment was an issue until I chopped the stinger off and reattached it at the correct angle plus slotted the mounting holes on the top bracket to match the correct alignment.

Clogging was an issue around sand, but I put in a strainer and that took care of it.

I liked it.

oh yah sorry guys my bad, whatever it is called its a relic, it came on my 701 61x motor and has been on the shelf for about 2 years since it's been replaced with the #1 preffered pipe by freestylers world wide.

I ran a pro-tec F-series exhaust on my 650 and loved it. Great improvement over a stock 650 exhaust and resoanably priced. You can pick them up used for about 200ish. A buddy of mine has a 6m6 with the coffman's pipe and it rocks. He is also sporting a RAD flywheel though.

I have been happy with the FPP type 4 aka Freeride DryPipe aka Riva Freeride Drypipe. I run it with PWM (aka ECWI) water injection and I feel it hits better and has much better mid and top then my B-pipe on my mild setup. The Dry pipes have way better off idle response and DO make more HP across the RPM range. However they tend to be less reliable. The shortcomings are blown couplers and clogs. I have only blown couplers when I have a big biff or on a BIG bail and the ski lands on the side. I have not had any issues with clogs yet. The B-pipes are good too and I have the Blaster center bleed one on a different much less mild setup. This new setup is yet to hit the water so we'll see how that works out.

could be a 4 but hard to tell, get a shot from the side. the dents and how far it is above the side is a better way to tell what # it is. make sure the pipe is mounted to those lord mounts or you will blow the coupler.

I had this Pro-tec pipe before I went to the B pipe. It's was a bitch putting on and taking off the manifold I always remember. It made good all around power but I upgraded to a B pipe in 1995. What did they call this Pro-tec pipe? I cant even remember..
