I had this Pro-tec pipe before I went to the B pipe. It's was a bitch putting on and taking off the manifold I always remember. It made good all around power but I upgraded to a B pipe in 1995. What did they call this Pro-tec pipe? I cant even remember..
I think that is the F pipe.

I had a Speedwerx freestyle dry. It was a healthy increase on my old B limited---same bottom, more mid and tons more top end.

Alignment was an issue until I chopped the stinger off and reattached it at the correct angle plus slotted the mounting holes on the top bracket to match the correct alignment.

Clogging was an issue around sand, but I put in a strainer and that took care of it.

I liked it.

Ditto. I still run mine and love it but I had to do all of that to mine too.

Anybody running the Factory Type 4 dry pipe? I thought I heard someone say it was comparable to the Speedwerx dry pipe.

Vomit Spot and JetskiMobile1 ran the type 4 for a while... made nice power. They recently switched to wet pipes, and lucky me, I bought Vomits type 4 for my square nose. :Banane01:

I have ran a mess of different pipes.

R&D dry pipe with water injection. I love the power on this thing.

Speedwerx race pipe makes awesome bottom, mid and top.

Riva freeride dry pipe (FP type 4) Hated it.

B-pipe limited and mod.

I currently run the R&D on the supoerstock ski and the b-pipe mod on the freeride ski.

For freeride nothing touches the b-pipe for durability, reliability and performance. But the speedwerx is a close second.

For all out performance I like the R&D. But all this is from my experieces on different boats.

I had a R&D wetpipe... it was fine.... no Bpipe, but it did increase the power

I ran a Blaster Mod pipe for a while...was great power, and very reliable.
Then I switched to a Speedwerx Race pipe. AWESOME power, really great.
Not very reliable, though...so then I switched to a B Mod pipe, and haven't looked back.

The Speedwerx made more power throughout though. Both wetpipes had better throttle response.

Thanks Wax, yes back then it was the shtizz(1991/92)and it was all Pro-tec stuff. They got a lot of my money back then..
:haha: (at least I can laugh about it now)
That pic was before the 61X(701) cylinder had even came out in a Yamaha watecraft.

It had a 6M6 Pro-tec resleeved and SS ported 701 cylinder on it at that time($800). I used the credit card to its fullest potential back then. ..:bs2:
I paid $800 just for those new Pro-tec taperbored dual 38's. It had a Pro-tec modded OEM CDI(MSD Enhancer hadnt even came out yet), Pro-tec dual intake manifold on the carbs, Pro-tec intake grate and rideplate, Protec finger throttle, I added a Pro-tec Gridle later too.
Pro-tec makes good stuff. I still have all that stuff except the cylinder which I sold.
