lets see your sweet square noses

Finally getting around to it. Thanks for the reminder DJ. Here are a few build pics and then a few final pics. I can't believe how much work I put into this thing. It won the 2007 SFF Buildoff against several really nice skis.

I was there GDFL, I didnt realize that boat started life as a square nose.

jeeze, I woudl have asked 5.9 million questions.

did you fab from scratch the nose and the 'wings' on the hood?

are the wings still holding up?

anything you would do differently, after living with it for a few years?

Everything was fabbed up by myself from scratch. I used styrofoam sheets and spackling compount to shape and then glassed over that. When the glass was set, I ate the foam away with acetone. The wings are still holding up great. There is a tiny crack starting where most skis crack at the front corner where the hood seal sits and I have had a bit of trouble with a crack where the rear handhold isn't cooperating. Other than those two things an the normal scratches from use, it's holding up great.

Things I'd do different...... I wouldn't have the footholds up quite so far. I like them being forward, but it's a bit too much. I don't know that I'd change much else. It's an excellent surf ski. It loves to carve and it just feels good out there. It doesn't like to do freestyle stuff as much as it needs to. Even other, more experienced riders have trouble with it on some tricks. That's the main reason that I'm going to a new Trinity hull. I moved away from Florida and surfriding so I need something better for flatwater. I'll keep the hull and probably build it up again someday for my wife or for a spare.

Sweet skis guys. Here is mine. 760 motor, rec port, twin 44 mm carbs with prok atomizer, reed spacers, two stage boyesen reeds with stuffers, lightly ported cases, true and welded crank, factory dry pipe, factory pipe water box, R&D pump stuffer kit/intake, aftermarket prop (not sure of pitch), bored nozzle, custom paint, hydro turf. I'd like to put some wells put in it as well. Just took it for its first run last week. Alot different than the stock 650 i,ve been riding.

Nice Midget in the background. I've got it's cousin car... a Triumph Spitfire. Lots of fun to zip around in.

Thanks. The spitfires are nice as well. Heck of alot of fun to drive the midget around town.

Yes, the ski is from Dunnavant's. He can build a great ski!
