I never said a sled engine would be better in a jetski than whatever Malone is running. You guys are supporting my theory of less than 200hp because to make better power delivery (lower ports for more low end, right) you will have to sacrifice top end. Top end is where the peak hp number comes from. A complete aftermarket (yes, I said complete aftermarket, they've existed for a long time) Polaris sled engine makes it's peak hp at over 8,000 RPM. I think the most I've heard of for a 1000cc sled engine is 210-215hp, with dual pipes. There's no realistic way to expect Malone's engine to make the same power on copied cylinders with a single pipe and lower port timing.

Is Malone running OEM cases? That's another strike against it for peak power.

I don't think it matters, it's pretty obvious Malone has more power than anyone else, but I wouldn't buy one of his skis based on a 200hp claim from a salesman. With all the development of that engine, he should have dyno sheets in his back pocket.

I don't see what's so unbelievable about that at all. Magoo made 190 hp with last years motor and is making 210 hp with this years. If he can do it, why can't Malone.

as soon as my riding ability increses in the surf like i can roll and flip then i will be buying a light weight hull so i can try all this stuff in the flat
yeh sure i could shed a few pounds but i would prefer to eat like a horse drink like a fish and ride a light weight to make up the difference

From What I hear most freestyle guys don't care about horsepower anyway all they care about is how it hits and how quick it feels (even if its not). I think they prefer a boat that feels quicker even if the stalker ATS says it is not. Most say they dont care if it wont go over 50mph?????. I dont get it

His ski is achaully quite heavy and if you plann on making that kind of power I would mainly focus on strength

Very true, but usually hp and torque corrospond to some degree. Perhaps the more acurate way to guage a freestyle boats performance is the arm wrenching torque. Malones ski is nice b/c you can tool around on it but damm that thing will scoot when you want it too. Also on Malones boat it is very difficult to do 50mph b/c the way the hull is cut in the back it does not like handle worth a damm over way 35mph, but then again it is not designed too maintain a constant speed, it is designed to be a nice freestyle boat that can take very sharp turns (curtosy of the sxr style bottom) yet be able to flick the nose of the boat up. That is one thing I noticed about the SXR's they ride very flat and by modifying the back like malone did he was able to better suite the SXR bottom for freestyle use. I am not so sure that is the way to go on the Sj style bottoms.

Sorry :bs2: That Rev 1200 ski was said to weigh like 268lb. I bet Malones ski is very close to that weight. I think his ski for 2005 WF was lighter.

My bad......I was thinking 100% pre-preg. I beleive WD is doing wetlaid bottoms and pre-preg tops to increase durablity, which can account for the increased weight.

Having that heavier motor in there, I wouldnt want to go to light with the hull. I want to stick with a 701 based motor and a 60lb hull. I think that a 240lb boat with a 160hp Lamey would be the perfect setup.

That would be a bad ass set up and I have though about it myself. Light and responsive. Not uncontrollable power, just enough to do pretty much every trick in the book...........both power moves and technical tricks
