Liter motor dreaming...

I have been pondering a new toy lately. I have friends that rip snow mobiles, crotch rockets, Harley's, sky dive, pretty much anything out there...

And I have tried or owned/own all of those also (never owned a Harley or a snow mobile but have ridden many) but the only thing I can really get in to and honestly love is stand up jetskis.

So I think the only thing I can justify buying is a X scream motor.

Now...what size to get?? Might as well go 1000!

The exhaust is what kills the idea of the 1000 for me. B-pipe restricts power and PFP requires smaller tank. :dunno:

My SS865 should be shipping early next week. :Banane13:

Also with TBM Flywheel and Advent ignition...

Whatever you choose Mat, I'm sure you will be happy. Just about everybody in my group has one now so I had to do it just to keep up. I don't ride near enough or well enough to justify the 1000cc's.

i couldnt stretch to the tbm right now, so just a lightened flywheel and im running the msd enhancer, which pat said was the way to go

I traded a spare MSD for the Advent straight across so I figured I'd try it out. I'm going to break it in with an Enhancer and then swap to the Advent later. My little Deka ETX-9 batteries won't drive the advent for more than 3-4 hrs with multiple starts and dual bilges.

Holy crap I didn't realize it was 10k ish to get a 1000cc....

So thats out of the question for me.

And that makes sense that a B pipe would be restrictive and that is the pipe I am keeping.

So 865 is on my list then.

I'd check with Pat or Chuckie to verify those details but that's what i was lead to believe.

The SS865 was designed as a drop in engine with minimal upgrades, that's what makes it so popular. Add a PFP, Mag pump, kart tank and a few other tricks to be able to run the 1000cc's and it breaches 10K pretty quick.

the kit price on the 865 makes it very attractive to me.

I'd build it myself and rock that motor on the cheap.

Same here man....no matter what I get I am building it myself.

Can you get a 1000cc kit?

Do any of their motors require epoxied cases? Or better yet...which ones don't?

The SS865 requires $400 worth of porting and epoxy work to be done to the intake tract, transfer port areas and behind the stator due to clearancing for larger sleeves, nothing to beef up the bottom of the cases as nothing is removed there.

I have pics of mine but they are at home.

Finally got to try one of these motors a while back on Cuong's boat. Pulls hard from the bottom and keeps pulling. Anymore power is unnecessary unless you like the flatwater flips, twirls, and woopdy-doos.

you can run a bpipe with a 1000.....From what I remember Chuckie told me that the B actually will produce MORE bottom end vs. a PFP..

BUT

the PFP makes it more linear and controllable

those insanely huge reentry's that TC was throwing was with a 1000, bpipe and enhancer..

my argument for it is the same as madmat's

"why not?"

if your going to go all out...go all out..

the price difference is really not that much...you can run the same 46mm carbs, Bpipe and an enhancer..

the 10mm crank is about 1200 bucks...a new OEM is 600-700

the cost is the same (roughly) to rebuild...I dont think piston wear is an issue here...If the thunder pumpkin can go 3 seasons on a set of pistons then a rec boat should go the same or more

the 1000cc costs roughly 300 more (I think) in machinework vs. the 865

the major price difference comes in if you want to run a PFP

with this you are going to need dual 49 full specs, and will likely be running TL and race fuel (c12)

the 1000 will cost a little more to build....but the cost will be irrelavent in the long run....

I love my 785 mighy scream with the single 49 full spec...but the next motor I do build will absolutly go 1000cc..

now, ALLLLL that being said....you cannot go wrong with the 865 either..thats insane power on a stock stroke!

just make sure to set it up PRECISELY the way TS tells you....

I have ridden 3-4 of these motors back to back and you can absolutley tell which ones are setup to the exact spec..
