SX/SXi/SXi Pro Looking for opinions on adding power

I currently have the carbon tech reeds in the stock cages, they look ok but was thinking about stepping up to v force 3 reeds. Is it worth it or should I just stick with what I have?

Secondly, Im running 155/150 (cold) compression on my stock milled head. I was thinking about going to a ADA head to raise it a bit. Any idea if I should go with a 750 or 800 head? I'm bored to a 800cc now so I would think I would use the 800 head and follow their dome size for compression numbers. Like 32cc domes for 180lbs. If I went with the 750 head it would be 26cc domes fro 180. Any input would be awesome.

I almost added "no kawi hater comments needed" but I hadn't seen your avatar pop up for a while so I left it off. I can always count on your support Mark lol

155/150 sounds low for a milled head. I was running 185 with my milled head when I owned a pro.
What else do you have under the hood? Maybe a head won't be your biggest improvement.

Compression does wonders on response. I went from 150 psi to 210 psi on my 800 and ran race fuel. The increased CR did wonders to a Kawi. Don't compare PSI numbers with other members because they may be at different altitudes as you. The deciding factor of staying pump gas is dependant on compression ratio, not compression readings. Variables will exist between skis with compression readings.

I don't know if the reeds are going to make a huge difference, I have no experience with them because I have always thought if there was a way to change reed angle to gain performance on a relatively stock set up, then the manufacturers would've done it. The material of reed petals may be a trade off in reliability compared to OEM material. What other mods you have on your ski? Im assuming you're aiming for freestyle?

I really don't understand how reeds can affect performance. The only benefit I see to having carbon is when you engine inevitably eats one it won't destroy it

Under the hood... Bored to 800cc, pro-X pistons, ported, milled stock head, factory limited pipe, gutted water box, R&D advance plate, prok filters, blueprinted pump, tbm cone, 650sx nozzle, 12/18 5mm cut back. Think thats about it.
I did some reading this weekend, looks like the reeds I have now will stay in there. As for the head it looks like their the same just a difference choosing domes. Ill prob go with 24cc or 26cc domes for my altitude. I want to stay with 93oct fuel so my goal is 175-185 psi

On my sxi I went with an enhancer instead of an advance plate. The enhancer seemed to make a bit more power that the plate. I'd also try a lightened flywheel, I did that on mine and it worked great. If you want more bottom end maybe try a different prop.

Or you can do a dasa top end, but that's somewhat expensive.

Forgot to add that, I did put in a jetnetics flywheel too. I went with the plate bc of reliability, the am ignitions seem to catch a bad wrap and didnt want to chance it. I have the later ignition that adds a little timming anyway and have a good backup.

Aaron,
Back in my Kawi days I first had a B pipe added worked ok then I added the enhancer and it was a night and difference. So much of a difference I was maybe thinking something was wrong with my stock ignition.

I remember you telling me that, You had some crazy tunning issues too didnt you. I have been thinking of ditching the plate and going to a advent but just dont want to add another weak link, I have enough issues pop up as it is lol. Honestly I think dialing in the carbs and pipe will show huge improvements this summer. I just started getting that "light switch" power late in the season when the pipe was working. Its hitting too high in the rpms now so if I get the pipe to wake up lower in the revs it should be all good.

the crazy tuning issues was with my big boy motor and the 44's I relived that issue simply by filling the crossover. I chases that for an entire season I know ho it is. I do have that mototr back together again it is sitting in the tray of my ski out in Union.
