Other Loud exhaust, not making any friends aroumd the lake

How do you guys handle the people around the lake that HATE jet skis that are loud? tonight I came in to the dock, and the guy 2 places over starts yelling at me that enough is enough, park that thing already. Part of me wanted to fountain him and everyone on his dock. Another part of me said, wait... you keep your ski chained up on a ram 60 feet from this jackass.

I always ride all over the lake, I never ride one spot so this doesnt happen. Any advice?

Sounds like that complainers life must suck. So he gets his jollies off yelling at others. I would thank him for the attention, and noticing my sweet ride

Just ride and smile every time he yells at you. I have been riding at my camp for years and everyone loves watching me and my buddies ride, but this one guy yells and throws Sh$$ at me I just smile and ride.

if your ski is louder than stock than in my opinion it's on you. i love skis but get irritated with people that have skis that sound like airboats.

so if a ski advoacte doesn't like loud skis, imagine what someone who isn't a jet ski lover thinks.

sorry to not give the standard "screw em" response

I admit that I don't enjoy loud boats or jetski's. However, yelling and crying only proves the guys is a complete jerk. If he was a decent person, he would comment on it to you and ask politely if there is a way for you to make it quieter. But no, he prefers to throw a b*tch fit. Especially if it's your neighbor, there is no excuse for him being rude to you. I try to be considerate to others but I have no respect and don't care one bit for people who are complete jerks.

For the person who said one guy throws stuff at you...get a gopro, film that, and press charges. If you threw something at someone riding a Harley, you'd go to prison but he think it's acceptable to throw something at someone riding a jetski?

stock waterbox x2. unless you ride where no one will be bothered.

even people still get mad at us. just try and stay away from your place if you can. so that dink only hears you when you leave and come back..also riding a bit slower on yo knees with the ex underwater helps quiet it alot. if you have rear exhaust that is! this helps me

Mark 44 has it right. Sorry but stock is one thing, a pipe is another, and without a waterbox it can be very annoying. We have a guy that rides a sitdown at one of our spots without a waterbox and it is really a bit too much. If it was my house or vacation spot I am sure I would speak up. Who is the nut The guy with the super loud ski or the guy that hates it next to his lounger ???

my attitude toward decibel levels on the lake has always been screw em.cause when i took out my waterbox,i gained a bunch of braap.but now that im older and i ride later in the evenings and earlier in the morning before it gets too hot,i have found that my no waterbox attitude just doesnt mingle too well with the peace of the morning and evenings.so i guess im getting sensative.i wouldnt go changing your setup just to appease an arsehole.for the next few rides, especially when you see him on the dock, make a statement by keeping the exhaust submerged, stay on your knees till you get out of range and just show him that you are making a concious effort and i bet after time,he will start waving at you :)

I ditched the waterbox on my 650SX for a bad bones resonator that wraps around the front of the tank, I also added rear exhaust, even with the rear exhaust its too loud, so I added another resonator inline on the long rubber tube to the rear exhaust, if its still too loud I am getting a bung welded into the front resonator and dumping water into it, it did produce a lot more brap without the water box but you need some kind of balance between noise and power.

Yea, I am running a waterbox, its an ATP and its very dry, also side exhaust. The ATP is the only thing that will fit in my hull. Next summer Ill have a powerfactor pipe and rear exhaust with just a resonator. I would have worked with the guy had he come over and talked to me like an adult. Now Im just thinking of ways to indirectly get even with him...

Loud skis are not fast skis. You can inject more water in the exhaust stream to make it substantially quieter without affecting power, unless you just like being annoying.

I used to have a ball valve going to my stinger so I could open it up and dump a ton of water to make my ski quiet if I was riding somewhere that might be sensitive. Some places with hills make the sound resonate like crazy, and some people like to sit outside to have dinner by a lake and hearing a loud obnoxious ski while doing that is not cool.

The get even thing will not work. The votes are in and you can see by the posts that most riders are saying do the right thing. 10-15 years ago I would have been saying get that $#%##$%. It is just not worth it trying to make somebodies day sheatty. I would go talk to him introduce myself and hang out for a minute. Instead of being that prick on the loud jetski you become my neighbor brian the guy with the loud ski. It sucks rolling over but makes life easier fer sure.

The problem with accommodating those people who are total jerks is you'll never please them. They will always be unhappy with you no matter what you do. You could have an electric ski and they'll just find some other reason to hate you. I hate to say it but it's just the way some people are. You could hear a pin drop on the dock and someone will be pissed because a kayaker is making splashes as he paddles by.

If you run no waterbox, that's different because there's a huge difference between no waterbox and a loud waterbox.

Why though? All you're going to do is create an endless cycle of revenge until someone gets hurt or property gets damaged. I agree it sucks he didn't come to you like an adult, but put yourself in his shoes. He probably bought the place thinking it's a nice quiet place to relax and retire and now he has to listen to jet skis every day, and now he's losing his cool.

I say kill him with kindness. Go over there like an adult and set an example for him that this is how adults work things out, by talking rationally.
