Lumpy's carbon hull repair/build thread

Picked up a hull in what was thought to be mint condition but upon further inspection, found a nasty crack in said hull. This thread details the struggles i went through to get this pile on the water. Here's what i started with. Big thanks to @Nate_D for guidance on this one. Not trying to pour salt on a wound here, just looking for clarification. It appears to be a large crack in the middle of it, but is that a crack below the "o" in "works" or just a scratch?

Thats just a gouge. I didnt find a crack there when i ground it out. It was just as bad as the gouge pictured below. IMG_20160821_182207217.jpg

Did you have it shipped? How did you not notice that?! Looks like it was dropped off a stand or something.
That's the poopty part about the deal and partly my own fault. I drove 10 hrs to pick this mess up, thought i was dealing with a reputable seller, got bull pooping with seller and his parents, saw the top deck in as advertised condition, and didnt even bother looking until i got it home and flipped it over.

Sorry you had to deal with that but at least Nate D was there with a helping hand. I have heard good things about him unlike seller. Hope you get the boat together and on the water soon @Lumpy!
@Nate D is the man. The boat is together, just pump tuning left. To continue the thread though, i had to grind out all the bad that was cracked. It was rough without a respirator. 20161220_165415.jpg 20161220_165640.jpg

WTF Dude. Silicosis. $30 at home depot for a respirator. I worry about washing my clothes with the other clothes. Don't ever breathe that dust. Minimum drywall mask for hand sanding and respirator with power tools. That's a minimum, like way minimum. I wear a mask to sweep the floor.

It sounds to me like there is no one to blame but yourself. You drove 10 hours to pick up a hull but didn't take 10 minutes to look it over before you bought it? Now you're crying because you found a small crack and want to blame the seller. poop happens and carbon cracks. Fix it and move on. It's not like he shipped it to you and it arrived damaged you went and picked it up and saw it first hand before you made the deal
