yeah but it wont cost him 600 to make it. and make it again and again if he needs to. and if you are worried about it make the first one out of reg glass to see how the resin holds up.

I think about making one of these every now and then and then I remember I have a truckload of other stuff I need to do. :stups:

The only epoxy that will work needs to have a glass transition well over 250. There are some high temp tooling resins available that are very similar to 350 aircraft resins. Trying to copy an FP chamber is more difficult because the flat parts need reinforcement and more of the load is placed on the resin instead of the fiber.

U save 1.2 lbs, iv been making them for a while with a dry cone like lenzi use to do.
Epox resin im useing is rated for 328 deg its not cheap and very hard to work with
if u dont know what ur doing. The part needs to be baked to max temp for memory.
Here is my limited chamber.

Im just curious...
So how do you make the mold? Is it a 2 part mold then you have to connect the 2 halves at a seam? Or is it a foam disposable type mold that you lay up all at once and burn/clean it out of the pipe?

Very interesting and nice looking chamber 24/7!
It was nice to hear what the weight savings is and also I wonder if its just as good in regards to the reflection of the sounds waves as the alum chamber...

I know but I am not telling.:fest06:

Here is what Wamiltons says about their carbon chamber:

"This lightweight Chamber, is 50% lighter than the factory one. As the carbon cools faster than aluminum, you can run your pipe even hotter and get more performance out of your exhaust system."

and now Matt_E:

Aluminum is a very good conductor of heat. That's why it's hot to the touch. It conducts the heat away from the chamber.
The carbon chamber does not feel hot because it doesn't conduct heat very well. That's perfect indication that it is a much worse heat conductor than the aluminum, causing the chamber to actually run hotter than one with aluminum.
If carbon dissipated heat better, the outside would be even hotter than an aluminum chamber.

I don't imagine it matters all that much, but I figured I'd clear that up. Carbon chambers do not run cooler. They contain the heat better.

MattE is absolutely right and wammer is absolutely wrong in the absolute technicality of the statement. Wether or not the chamber can be run hotter is another issue. The point is that if the chamber wall itself is not getting hot, neither is the coupler.

I looked into it a bit further.
The specific heat for carbon is a bit lower than for aluminum. It takes more heat to raise the temperature of aluminum than to raise the temperature of carbon.
This means that the aluminum has a higher thermal mass than carbon. It can store heat better.
The thermal conductivity of aluminum is far higher than that of carbon.

In short, it takes more heat to warm up aluminum and it conducts the heat far better. Does it radiate it better?
I don't know.

I always thought the purpose of an expansion chamber was to set the timing of the sonic wave as it returns to the cylinder helping to control the fuel charge. I never knew it was really the radiator.

It seems to me developing a product just because it may look cool is not really a good reason. It has been shown on many occasions that carbon chambers have no performance increases and is not gonna be as beefy nor will it last as long as aluminum. So why would someone pay 3 times the amount of a aluminum chamber that works perfectly just for something that may look cool to some people (and only if you pop the hood) Seems like a lot of work for no performance and an increased possibility of failure...

Don't hate because I possess knowledge that you do not,it matters not, I am sworn to secrecy on this one .

As I am too. I have THE chamber that with some detailed pics would tell all. LOL I can't seem to get my pics to upload now.

Let's just say that my chamber is not at all like Wammers.

Good, go away.. and dont tell.
We dont need your usls posts clogging up everything.

This forum is to contribute info, not jerks saying they know how and its a big super secret.
If you have nothing to contribute, then why say anything?
Post count whore.

I'll find out how and post.
