Since everybody else is doing it i figured we may as well join in with our thread as well.

Scott and I had our Trinity Matrix's out at Daytona and got to watch a ton of guys try them out and were very pleased with the impressions. Mine was the black standard length and Scott's was the red -2". Mine had the power but Scott's slashed like nothing else. It was nice to see them out in the hands of the pro's and get a good workout for a change.

Scott's was out way more than mine. His setup is just so much more playful than mine in the tight surf. We are going to swap pumps before we ride again to see if my setback mag is keeping mine from sliding out like his. Otherwise mine is going under the knife and getting 2" cut off the rear. :headbang:

I liked my hull in std length but I absolutely loved scott's -2".

Thanks guys for letting us uk guys play on them what can I say beautifull skis so stable but still ride light . Got caught on a breaking wave a few times that would have had me off on my Sj these just rode off no problem really make you feel that your a better rider than you are lol .still got good pop off the wave when you wanted and slashed waves ( something I'm not great at) real easy I defiantly preferred the -2 in pretty much all areas. l think you could hack another 2" off this hull and it would still ride great. that and the freaks were my favorite hulls there and I rode alot of skis lol
Thanks again to you guys for letting me use such amazing skis

Anytime Matt(?) and thanks for your input.

I talked to Bobby today and it looks like I'm stripping my hull down and taking it down for him to cut some off the back. If I wait any longer then I risk not having it back in time for the warmer weather.

Scott originally pitched the idea where all hulls are built to -4" and then blocks were added to get the desired length but the idea is messy and full of liability to the builder.

Scott's was the first neg hull so we knew it was going to be interesting comparing the two, we just didn't expect such a difference.

The next hull built is going to be a neg 4 but if I wait then it will put my ski down right when I want to start riding again. I know I will love the neg 2, the neg 4 could be too much and make it too squirly. I know it will be easier to add length back on than shorten it again some day but i love a clean install and don't really want blocks, extensions or inserts to worry about.

why the jump from 2---4???

Good call Idok, we got hung up on 2 and 4 because those are the builds already on the table but mine is a mod so we can do whatever we want.

I woke up this morning pretty confident in my decision to split the difference and go with -3" but I am still very much open to anyones experience and opinion on this, particularly those who have ridden shortened hull.

I ride surf now but there is a very good chance I will end up riding flatwater full time someday.

After about two years of not riding it was awsome to have the chance and ride both of these ski's. I started on Scott's red -2" and it felt really good, and amazingly stable in the white water. It seemed as if the harder you road it, the more it wanted. After getting off the -2" and jumping on to The black full length hull it just felt too big. I Jokingly told Bobby he may as well just make the -2" the standard with a -4" option. The -2" was realy that much better. IMO I would love to try a -4" like what Zack attack has already said, just go for it Boy! It was cool to see how stoked Josh Lustic and Mark Gomez were after riding Scotts boat.

Thanks again Boyer and Scott for the Joy rides..... It might be time to sell some of my dirt toy's and get back in the salt.

I sure hope you are right FL, We just got back from Florida. 868 miles in 14 hrs, 3 tanks of fuel, 1 Caramel Macchiato and 3 dewatering breaks. Left at 5am and returned at 7pm. Can't wait to do it again in a couple weeks. :headbang:

Met up with ScottS around 6:30am and handed him my 144 Mag pump to try in his ski and a dry suit so I won't have to wait till March for the results, lol.

Definitely Hats off to Boyer and Scott for the Joyrides on their Matrix's. It sure got my attention not only riding but clearly seeing the difference just 2 inches can make on a hull. Scotts Red -2 Matrix was definitely my choice boat of the weekend. I kind of feel bad but don't at the same time for my over half hour extended joy ride on Scotts Matrix. That ride was not to just feel it again but mostly just for the sheer fun of riding the damn thing! Boyer I think you should definitely chop it to -4 If it were my boat i would try it at worst case you throw an extended D cut plate on there and or ask bobby to create a hull extension. for a boat like that I would think adding inches is easier than removing inches and keeping it as nice as it is without bobby personally doing it. Thanks again I am still here in West Palm beach and will hopefully be stopping by Bobby's shop late next week to see the Matrix Factory and say whats up to my east bound and out homie Josh Lustic if hes not too busy test riding Canadian built death machines.

I think i'll have to make a trip out from Oz next year to have a ride with you guys... I'm very interested to see how the -2 hull handled compared to mine and really keen to hear how the -3 or -4 (whatever you decide on) goes..
I'm absolutely stocked with mine still.. Best decision I have ever made..
