Scott and I were talking about the -2" last night and were wondering how much affect the way Bobby angled the rear has on the way the ski rides. Is it a pro or a con...?

After a very, very, very long drive, my Matrix is back home once again. It is now -2" and dying to be reassembled and ridden.

I rode my Wife's SJ on saturday and switched back and forth with Scott's -2" Matrix and it just felt like home to me. SJ's feel so different now and I bitched the whole time that it wasn't setup right for me but honestly, the Matrix is so much easier to ride, you forget how squirley the SJ's really are. My core is killing me today. Nothing like a 2 tank ride in 40deg water followed by a 14hr drive to really lock up your joints, lol.

IMO , the best looking hulls out in the market by far. Very definative body lines compared to all the other rounded blobs. Its like a 68 charger in a sea of 1987 Mazda RX7's.

The -2" Hull is the bomb too. I have ridden the last 4 weekends in a row which is unheard of for me and I still can't get enough. I'm riding twice as long, burning more fuel than ever and hitting things I would have run from even 4 months ago. Not sure if cabin fever bumped up my resolve to ride or the hull is just so fun now that I can't stop but I know my love for riding is back and I can't wait to ride again.

Thanks for the great compliment man. It definately took a few hours to shape, and well worth in the end.

I have no clue how well these hulls are selling but If they arent flying off the shelf like hot cakes Im puzzled. I hear alot of hype about other hulls but this hull is head and shoulders above any hull out there in the looks department. The XFS is pretty sweet looking but this hull takes the cake. I got to see these two hulls and the XFS along with alot of others at Daytona this year and even with just a simple one tone paint job these hulls are sexy as all hell. To hear some of these possitive surf ride feedbacks is just the iceing on the cake. Not to mention your build backround that translates to your build quality.

Im glad it's not just me! Some of these new hull's look like they got punched in the nose, while others just look like your riding a whale sperm.

Whale sperm ..... never seen whale sperm but I could picture it resembling some of these very blah hulls out on the market. Zero creativity in the style department on all the hulls but this one. I cant say enough good things about it after seeing it in person.

Painted like a stelth fighter would look sick. With the militart font warning labels. Would hands down be the sickest standup out there.

When I built the hull in my sig , I admit I was looking at this hull for inspiration. I will be doing a full one off with moulds custom X2 soon and dont sue me if it looks like its the bastard child of this hull.

We rode lake Atlantic this saturday and zero surf forced us to do alot of closer comparisons than previously possible and we swapped back and forth every couple minutes focusing on smaller details. My ski still feels more powerful but Scott's slides out better and just generally feels more playful.

We swapped intakes for the last session and it helped a bit. My Worx made scott's hook up a little better and his Jet dynamics made mine loosen up a bit but nothing like his.

We keep coming back to the mag pump as the big difference between our skis. I love how easy his hull slides and he loves how much more grunt my engine has so we have to figure out a happy medium, otherwise I am going to end up building a second pump up for my ski and swapping out the mag. I just don't know if the loss of power transmission is worth the extra playfullness.

I already have a couple spare pumps but does anyone have an extra superjet driveshaft laying around? Also gonna need another 14/19 I guess.

ScottS was nice enough to perform a buoyancy test on his Matrix for us the other day. This is with no nose foam, polystyrene in the lower half and pour foam in the top.

Um, Yes he is standing and I was making more of a joke than a statement. If it was deeper it would just change the angle of the dangle but not how much was out of the water, at least not enough to nitpick about anyways. As long as enough of the ski is visible to find it, it's a pass in my book.

Besides, the question that begs to be answered is if foam in the upper deck alone is enough and this still does not answer that question. The lower half is filled with polystyrene but more importantly, air and not water so it has the same buoyancy as a fully foamed ski still. The true test would have been to pull the drain plugs too but I don't think Scott was too worried about answering that question at that moment.

P.S. He pulled the drain plugs when he got home and nothing came out. He said it was damp inside but no amount of water.

I would be nervous about running no foam in the lower, even a trinity hull will leak eventually.

You should see our freaks... No foam period, just chambers of air... We run open holes 1/4 in on both sides

works great & you drain the tray every time out or when its on the stand

I get less than half an ounce (if that) out of one chamber only.
I don't have a need to drain it more than once, when it goes back in the garage.

Scott was too so he opted to fill his lower with polystyrene just in case. Mine has just air and is fully sealed so far.

I would never be bold enough to state that they won't leak but I have not heard of any leaking yet. If one was to leak, i would bet money is was due to a breach in the hull and not the bond line or any fitting. It is truly amazing how well these things are put together and some things have to be seen to be realized.

Even if they do develop a leak along the way, just open the plugs and drain it out. No foam to get waterlogged and even if there is a small leak, any remaining air at all is going to add buoyancy and should be adequate to float the ski enough to recover it.

You guys need to bring those skis back to Florida for some more testing. I volunteer to test both of them for you all day. Ha Ha

That could happen again very soon and hopefully the weather plays nice next time. 10 hrs of driving so I could burn one tank of fuel and watch everybody else wrench wasn't all that fun.
