How about a maiden voyage gopro shoot before lunch? I'm about to drill holes for the cooling lines and be done. Who's with me? I see you guys looking.

Filled it up with gas. Gas immediately started leaking around the bottom fittings....fast. Had to yank it out and drain it and use some liquid gasket 1192 on all the tank fittings. Don't use a JEGS fuel cell without putting sealant on the fittings where they go through the tank.

Reinstalled and Pabloescobar(Gregg) and I carried it to the water. Thanks Gregg! We discovered that my primer stopped working so we used a syringe to prime it and wham. It's loud! REALLY LOUD! Even with some water going in the fitting on the Highroller waterbox, it's loud. It has a rediculously deep tone like nothing I've heard before. This is with a rear only exhaust.

1st ride it seems to idle really high and the motor doesn't seem right. Then it just dies about 100 yards from my dock. Get it back to find the carbs are completely loose from the manifold. Spend an hour in the hot sun looking for nuts and reinstalling them with red locktight.

2nd ride it runs perfect. It even seems pretty close to perfect on the carb tuning with Art's initial settings that he gave me. I did have an issue with the pump feeling like it wasn't getting traction at a lot of times. After talking to Paul we think it is getting air from somewhere. I'll be pulling and reinstalling it tomorrow.

The ski definitely rides nose high compared to a superjet. The ride is completely different. I wish I had the recessed front foothold because I felt I needed to be further up in the tray. At speed it was no issue but definitely noticable starting out. I have the rideplate extended a little bit and a really short pole setup. I'm sure the pump sucking air wasn't helping this either and it may be the whole reason I had a hard time on the ski. I'm looking forward to seeing how it rides with the pump getting more traction. The wide tray had me overcompensating on the turns and I looked like I was a novice rider on it. The stunt was the same way and I expect to get used to that part pretty quickly. I did a half ass attempt at a flatwater backy and it shocked me at how easy it was to get it up and over. I threw it away and did a ghost rider because I wasn't wearing a helmet but I can't wait to try it with a helmet on. I expect it to flip easily.

Paul is probably coming tomorrow to try it out and help me tune it. We should have the bugs worked out and a true ride report tomorrow. John will have his gopro out tomorrow too.

Glad your finally on the water Shane! And don't worry about the wide tray, I had the same issue going from my REV to my BOB. I didn't like it at the beginning, but as I rode it more, I got used to it. Just like any aftermarket hull, it'll take a bit of time to get used to, but once you do, you'll be flipping no problem with that motor set up!

144mm 12 vane mag pump, 14/19 prop, 85mm nozzle, and wetwolf stubby cone. I did have to hit the pump with a rubber mallet to get far enough in the midshaft for the bolts to go in. It's not a normal midshaft. I was really careful to put silicone all over the pump seal and the rideplate too. The pump seal didn't seem to fit very snug. Maybe I should use two rubber pump seals.

I would also be VERY tempted to try a more normal size/shape tail cone. If it don't help, at least its real easy to change. Once I started making stupid power with MS109 I had to ditch the ww cone and go back with a oem.

If Paul comes to hang out tomorrow you should be out of the woods real quick. He used to take my previous motor from running great to running insanely great in about 2 seconds flat!

I'll try it if I can't get it right after reinstalling it. The stubby cone was Art's recommendation.

Any opinions on the two pump seal idea?

This is me thinking outloud which is NEVER a good idea, but

All the real pressure is behind the prop right? With that said, why not?

Shane, also, a trick I learned in WWII was to install the wear ring only and the 2 vert bolts holding it in 1st and then install the rest of the pump.
This allows you to really get the wear ring lined up good and able to see the sealing/or lack thereof real well.

Also a pen light laying in the pump w/the garage lights out lets you see how good or bad it is.

On 2nd thought, take the rubber packing seal out, silicone a large diameter bead all the way around on both sides and let it set up and then re-install it. This way the silicone can only squish out so much if it has already cured. Maybe. lol

Yeah I'll be out there tomorrow. You'll get used to the wide tray after a couple good rides. Then once you hop in a normal tray on a normal hull, you'll feel like you've got tunnel vision. haha

DK reminded me that my Triton midshaft housing doesn't have a rubber seal and I can't remember for sure that I siliconed it really good when I installed it. I know I meant to, but I was doing so much I may have forgot. I guess that means the motor and pipe are coming loose today to be sure. Fun. I was thinking of making a seal out of hydroturf with lots of silicone on both sides. The hydroturf should compress and seal it good.
