Custom/Hybrid Melmack's very unique 300sx build

OK I will. I can have one prototype for 15k. Or, I can build 30 prototypes for 25k. So I'll just send you my bank info ;)

The catch is that with the 30 engines, I can't sell any. I have to get licensing. But, I would have the tooling to build thousands of these. The licensing agreement expensive. And these are just smaller prototypes. We need a larger engine that makes more HP than these "150cc" model engines. So what I really need is a few grand to buy two Rotrons or Aixro cart engines and piece them into one dual rotor with 70-80hp. That may be more doable. Once I have a prototype, I can get funding for the real deal. We can form a stock investment and anyone interested can jump in. Then we will have the funding to get this thing truly going. The best bet for now is to get a partner with deep pockets or just wait for someone to produce some motors for another purpose, buy those and mod them for a low cost prototype. If yo are seriously interested in investing in this, let me know. I'll make a list and keep you in mind when things get more realistic.

Keep working on it I think you've got a winning idea. I know a guy that imports anything and everything from china and japan, do you know of any made over there? I could have him check pricing etc. Just a thought

Exciting update! I may have a single rotor prototype coming our way for evaluation. I will let you all know once I have more solid information.

Thank you for all your interest, ideas and support. The china idea would be optimal but so far, there is no Chinese rotary motor available due to current patents.

Looks like it will be on its way soon. Very exciting. Unfortunately I will be unable to share too many details as we evaluate this engine. But I will let you all in on what I can.

Gotcha. If you ever think there could be something he could do don't hesitate to pm me.

I just finished a js300 and im gonna take it out for the first time this weekend. Does your 300 vibrate a ton? I feel like everything is going to start cracking. Also, what would be the difference between a js300 and 300sx hull? just the length (and the added weight to make it longer)?

A JS is just a 550 with less power. It is only slightly lighter. It was designed for kids. The SX is much shorter and wider. It responds much better to mods IMO. I'm not sure if I agree with OneDumb on the stability though. This thing is more stable at speed tan a 550 and seems to be about the same laterally as a 550 at low speed. It has a wider tray than a 550.

Are you trying to tell me a 300 sx hull is stable? I think mine is the most unstable thing I have ever ridden. Almost every time I ride I end up swapping skis with someone. An SXR or 750SX is stable. Riding a 300sx with some real power behind it is a challenge. I think I need tubbies.

I guess it depends on your definition of stable. When I said a JS is more stable than an SX I meant it has a longer hull and chines and tracks slightly better. The SX is marginally wider and may feel a little more stable side to side but you can flick it around quite easily, not so much with a JS.

Just my two cents and of course everybody has a different riding experience with different skis.

Sorry to get off topic melmack.

No problem. Your keeping the thread alive till I have some more news. :fing02:

I guess IMO the SX is more stable because it doesn't throw you suddenly like the long skinny 550 style hull. Those tend to ride more FX-1 like to me. This is more like a small super jet.

after riding the js300 it definitely wanted to throw me every chance it had. I was riding in a pretty choppy bay and every wave just wanted to throw me if i didn't hit it perpendicular. It had more power than i thought it would though. I could definitely see your 300 being an adequate ski for a lot of people. I only have a slightly mod'd 650sx to compare it to though.

but if you can make it ride more like an FX-1, I will be more interested.
