MN Freeride 2016 Rickter XFR

Good to see it coming along, I'm at about the same point, it'll feel great to get out the lock tite and tq wrench and not have to keep flipping the hull over. The trim looks great, is that a adjustable stop to set the angle when the lever isn't pulled?

Yep, it has a bolt and nut that'll adjust the stop for the zero trim position.

Sounds like I have more pains to get through just adjusting everything to get it to work together well. Thanks all for chiming in and helping out. Keep that experience coming and pictures would be a bonus.

I was planning on getting the pump set, midshaft in, and shimmed all with loctite and then be done with the bottom, but maybe I should install the pole, steering, and trim before I set it.

Got the steering cable parts ordered. I thought I'd work on the pole a bit today... boy that's awkward.

I first installed the lower end of the pole, but then realized I needed the breather tubes in there and the spacer.

The RRP directions are crap, but at least it's something. You'd think they could spend another few minutes writing better product descriptions and at least have a finished product photo.

Here's what I did that worked pretty well to get that together.

1. Install the breather tubes from the top without any pole pieces on. Just push them through with a hand on each side working it until it gets down far enough. I think I left about 7 inches up top.

2. Put in the pole spacer. There won't be anything holding it in, so just hold onto that the best you can.

3. Put in the breather tubes into the bottom of the bottom pole piece. Work it in there just to where the bottom of the poles reach. The breather tube does not go into the actual pole tubes, but just butts up against them.

4. Put the bottom part of the pole with the spacer into the bracket. Getting it in there is real tight. I had to shave off a bit of the delrin bushing to create an angle so it could slide in. Even then I used a rubber mallet to gently get it in the bracket. Line everything up, install the pole bolt. Again, I used the rubber mallet to gently ease it in there. Pushing on the spacer with an open end wrench through the lightweight billet pole to push the spacer against the breather tubes to ensure it aligned properly. Another set of hands would have been helpful. Wrench in the bolt on the threaded side.

I haven't figured out the top end of the pole yet. Not sure where where this black piece goes. Couldn't find in anything in google image search. Any help?

Yeah same here, I'll take a few pictures if you want when I get my ski out of the crate next week.

Hook up the trim lever and make sure the pull is correct before you finish the pump install. It's a pain to adjust the cable end after its all together

Thanks for this tip. I decided to install the pole and get the steering and trim all setup. Turns out I need to adjust the trim cable quite a bit. I was planning on removing the pump again so this should be a snap.

More progress today. Last week I sheared a pump mount bolt off, but got another and mounted the pump, installed the cooling lines, adjusted the trim on the pump, aligned the pump and midshaft and mounted the midshaft. Making pretty decent progress. I'm not in much of a hurry since I don't have the motor yet, but would finish it ASAP if I knew it was shipping.

The original plan of using the 08+ steering setup on the pump failed. Two month backorder on the Yamaha parts. So, I went with pre 08 and some extension bits I found at the hardware store.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the TNT pipe and water box soon and install that just to ensure I have the right straps and hold downs necessary for that and my gas tank.

Also, TPE came out with a new billet head I'll be getting, fingers crossed. Their communication lately has been less than stellar.

Cut your pole tubes down to where your bars are right over your hood latch, that's the most preferred spot

Thanks for the tip. I should have thought of that before I installed the foam pad, but it'll probably be okay yet.

I also wanted to ride it, feel it out, and cut down as I want. Some of them I see look super short, not sure if I want that yet, but at the hood latch looks like a pretty good spot.

Contact Chris Rauen on IG or on Facebook where he listed the pictures. Last I checked there were four left after I ordered mine last week. I got a message back after only a few minutes from TPE and Chris. Hope you get your hands on one of the limited designed heads. They are quite sharp!
