Got the steering cable parts ordered. I thought I'd work on the pole a bit today... boy that's awkward.
I first installed the lower end of the pole, but then realized I needed the breather tubes in there and the spacer.
The RRP directions are crap, but at least it's something. You'd think they could spend another few minutes writing better product descriptions and at least have a finished product photo.
Here's what I did that worked pretty well to get that together.
1. Install the breather tubes from the top without any pole pieces on. Just push them through with a hand on each side working it until it gets down far enough. I think I left about 7 inches up top.
2. Put in the pole spacer. There won't be anything holding it in, so just hold onto that the best you can.
3. Put in the breather tubes into the bottom of the bottom pole piece. Work it in there just to where the bottom of the poles reach. The breather tube does not go into the actual pole tubes, but just butts up against them.
4. Put the bottom part of the pole with the spacer into the bracket. Getting it in there is real tight. I had to shave off a bit of the delrin bushing to create an angle so it could slide in. Even then I used a rubber mallet to gently get it in the bracket. Line everything up, install the pole bolt. Again, I used the rubber mallet to gently ease it in there. Pushing on the spacer with an open end wrench through the lightweight billet pole to push the spacer against the breather tubes to ensure it aligned properly. Another set of hands would have been helpful. Wrench in the bolt on the threaded side.
I haven't figured out the top end of the pole yet. Not sure where where this black piece goes. Couldn't find in anything in google image search. Any help?
