Just got into stand up's at the end of this summer and since I have two now, I figured I would pull in the 09 SXR and dress her up a bit. So far I have re-turfed the tray and I did the side rails too. Both of those jobs were pretty easy. I ended up buying a SXR pre-cut turf kit from Ebay and the rail kit from Blowsion. The heat gun came in handy and the install was fairly simple. I really like the camo theme, it really helps to hide the seams and a couple minor mistakes made by a first-timer.
I actually ended up having more trouble with the Dakine foot straps but I'm almost done with those too. Just needed some longer bolts for the tray strap since there is too much turf and padding for them to reach the nut and tighten down. Either way, it's a clean install with no noticeable cuts. I installed the nuts in the tray and turfed over them, then went back and found them to bolt the straps down.
Next up is a stiffer pole spring, new chin pad, and a custom turf pad on the bottom of the pole to cover up and protect scratches when the pole is raised to high and hits the nose cover. Thinking I will probably turf the dash since I have plenty left over. Also, I might throw on a pole limiter and some hood straps too.
Lastly, I removed the R&D intake and grate combo, and I replaced the plate with a stock d-cut plate. I plan to go with a Worx 222 for the intake grate, but I might do the 225. Not sure yet. I also have an adjustable flow control valve, but I am reading threads that say these won't work with stock exhaust setups. Unless anyone knows a way to dry out the waterbox on a stock exhaust, I might end up getting a wet pipe. After all, I have an excuse now.
Anyway, here is a pic of my first ever turf job. Thanks to this forum I was able to do this and many other mods myself. Re-turfing the SJ will come later this year, and it will be more difficult with the footholds, I'm sure...
