Other motor mounts..

Here's just 3 of 12 of the 701 industries mounts I have broken!
I didn't learn from my first time because Dave told me I was the first person this had happened to and I must of installed my engine incorrectly?!?? Wtf? So I accepted his replacement set fitted them and what do you know bang another set go after 20 minutes yes just 20 minutes of ride time and it was back to the garage to get rid of set number two and replace the also now damaged coupler and electric box.
My mate had also bought a set and since seeing how mine held up he said he would not run them and I decided I would give them one last chance!, big mistake as after three sets and no more than two hours ride time they also failed..... So much for fail safe and tested I thought so I decided that I was not ever going to fit 701 mounts again as simply they are junk!
We true to the sport blaster riders here in Australia would rather pay the extra international shipping expense to buy from Rhass or Cold Fusion as the proof is in the pudding.
Not even the so called 701 test pilots even run the dodgy pos.

Med flat rate box is $60 to you with the mounts and what ever else you can pack in. We have shipped a bunch of sets down there to other unhappy 701 customers.

I think Dave's copy machine is broke. Seems like all these copied parts like mounts, drain plugs, stems, conversion kits, and others are just "dodgy" versions.

I just can't wait till he starts making Superjet or even X2 parts. He should make a pole, the industry needs a cheap poorly welded one of those kicking around.

I would like to hear real feedback on Yamaha based aftermarket motor mounts.....from riders that treat their ski very very badly in surf or the guys going HUGE on flatwater.
Hey Mat, Im a surf rider who is hard on my gear. I own a superjet, FR2 evo and a Blaster1 all have CF mounts. Ive smashed the nose on my super jet lots and only ever had one mount partly tear off the base plate in that time. I replaced it at my own expense because I'm happy with the life. At the Austrailian Rip n Ride event last year i met Carl from CF and explained my experience with his product and thanked him. I do find the mounts in my blaster quite hard and feel a lot of engine vibration but its some thing i can live with. Hope this helps..

I had a set of 701 mounts in my Footrocket with my 1200. I had to shave two of the mounts down 2mm because of the billet cases. I only got a month or so out of them before those mounts failed, probably due to me altering them. They still replaced that set and sent me a new set. In the mean time I bought a set of Rhaas mounts because I could get them in two days and I have run those ever since with no issue. FYI Rhaas makes mounts that are slightly shorter than stock for anyone needing to go that route and then you don't have to alter your mounts. Robin is a great guy to deal with too, my next set of mounts will be Rhaas for sure.

Well 701Daves Bullpoop continues!
Since posting my troubles on here about the quality and service I have had my Ozfreeride profile deleted after seven years by his butt buddy Player1 and have had several phone calls from a so called Jay threatening me if I don't remove the posts on the X.
News for you buddy it's dicks like you that the freeride world can do without

Sorry for the derail, some of my motor mounts on my stock 2011 SJ are loose and I am looking to replace them.
I was going to replace them with new OEM ones but this thread changed my mind. :p
Do the Rhaas mounts vibrate horribly like the usual AM ones or are they smooth like the OEMs.
I need something that vibrates similar to/less than OEM but better quality if its possible.
My ski is stock (for now) and the hottest thing I'll have probably is a limited-ish set-up.

Thanks

Another thing to consider when shopping for mounts is the possibility of ripping out your motor mount inserts all together. Especially in aftermarket hulls. Not that it should ever happen, manufacturers SHOULD be making them tougher than mounts but at the same time I would rather replace a motor mount than have to deal with fiberglassing in a new insert. You can almost think of it as a wear point like A arms on a snowmobile, something you want to break and absorb impact before transferring energy to something more important in your machine.

I'm far from an expert but from reading and talking to a bunch of guys in threads like this I know that inserts DO get ripped out. Even in well known and respected hulls. Matt E used to talk about it. But at the end of the day it's just something to think about. It obviously depends a lot on what kind of hull you have and how you treat it. Would you rather spend a little extra on AM mounts and risk the possibly of having to glass in new inserts while having basically bulletproof mounts? Or just stick with cheap but decent oem mounts that you have to replace every now and then?

If your 'ripping your engine mount inserts out' you have got bigger problems than the type of engine mount your using bud, perhaps you should be looking more at the choice of hull manufacturer before even considering choice of mounts

One of my glued down Waterdawg motor mount billet plates came unglued pretty quickly after building the ski. I had been watching for it and caught it fast....glassed over them and they have not budged since....taken some serious abuse....because my form sucks and I don't care! LOL...the rest of the hull is solid and saying I love it is a understatement.

I can not for the life of me imagine selling a hull with anything other than heavily glassed in mount plates! That was early in the AM hull scene though.....as far as I know...

I like my RHAAS mounts. Have broken several over the years, but Robin always sends a new set that was better than the last, and lasts longer than the last. The bonding method to the base plate and the thread insert is good, it's always been the actual rubber that tears for me.
The custom heights available and customer service is great!

Sorry bro, but wether you like it or not there's PLENTY of dudes who own and are still buying older or even newer hulls where the manufacturer hadn't or hasn't nailed down the insert game yet. These are the people who my post applied to. The guys who spend bottom dollar on an older or unproven hull. And the ideal solution is to preemptively fix it by reinforcing the inserts. But how many entry level AM hull buyers are going to do that until it's too late. If you have the cash then yes, buy a new and proven hull from a manufacturer that you know won't have this problem and don't worry about it. There's plenty out there. Take your pick. I know I'm not worried about it. But I also don't ride a old wdk, superfreak, bob etc. All of which had known issues with this. And whether you like it or not people are still going to ride those older hulls and are still going to rip out inserts using AM mounts.

Oem couch mounts. Used.

I have a drawer with about 40 in there. I think I'll be good for a few years. They hold up well to lawn darts even without keepers to stop the forward engine movement.

I tried some from maniac and even with access to a machine shop I couldn't get them to fit right....he said they won't always work on AM hulls and refunded me...

Fits in a square nose perfect with the mounts pushed all the way to the outside of the hull and no shims. Aligns dead straight.

A buddies ski they won't work in though. Too tall. It's hit or miss based on each hull.

I stuffed the nose of a ski into the bottom in jersey and broke my wrist and the nose of the ski. Couch mounts survived even with no keepers. They stretched far!

Ah good old 701 Dave,
He's quick to report my post but not so quick to reply to it........
