Freestyle Motor options. Help.

Hey everyone,
Hope everyones having a great season, i just have some questions for my build that im attempting to build over this winter.

Ive already started on hull mods as i was able to find alot of quick good diys here (shortening the rear by 2-2.5inches, hood shave, attempting to rocker the nose more, add tubbies, and the pvc around driveshaft to eliminate help eliminate cavitation)

So now im looking at what i can do for motor options, so to my understanding i have the option to fit next to any 2 stroke kawi engine in the x2 along with the yamaha 701 engines, so i have two questions.

1. Is there any other potential engine swaps for the x2? (someone suggested a 951 seadoo motor, i dont think they make a kit for it though and also dont know how differicult itd be and "modify-able" the engine is) (not really interested in big boi buklet blocks that cost 10k)

2. Im trying to build a ski with lots of low end, which motor setup will do this for me best?

Pump setup is a x2 pump with a skat trak #4 prop (its either 4 or 5). Hope that helps, many thanks to everyone who answers. :D

951 is too heavy and too much work
Simple option is a DASA kawi engine, make sure you run an exh adapter with a yami based exh. There was a 1000cc for sale a week or so ago

Figured it was, when buddy mentioned it it had me puzzled, didnt realise DASA made kawi engines, but also looking to stay away from stupid money engines, not looking to pour lots of money into a big DASA motor right away.

A simple small pin 750, single carb intake manifold with a sbn 46, high comp pump gad head, good reeds, and a nice exhaust system. A Coffman is perfect.
My pump has a tbm stuffer, large hub skat prop and a pjs RIP turn nozzle. With the last motor a 22 stamp 750 cylinder it did GPS 54 mph.

New motor is no stamp 750 cylinder, has a ton more bottom end but lost about 600 rpms. No GPS speed yet but I'd guess I lost 5-6 mph.

There use to be a guy in Lousianna that had several of the PJS Supercylinder motors, these were 800cc motors. if you could find something like that. HPT had a stock of Kawi Aftermarket Cylinders, Think they were Able Cylinders. May want to check with him. May be a decent option or a DASA Kawi based setup..........

I have one of those viper 9000 top ends. Lol, it needs to be bored and such. They really are meant for racing. A friend built one and had it done up.ok bottom end he said but it absolutely ripped up top!

The easiest and cheapest thing to do is 750 Kawasaki built to the level of your budget and ambitions.

Beyond that would be sxr motor, or swapping to some Yamaha based motor (the Yamaha thing can be done low buck with a lot of work, or you can buy a kit and makes it easier with higher cost)

Then you get another step up with big big bores and strokers and aftermarket cylinders either kawi or Yamaha based.

Pretty much anything more that a modified 650 or a VERY mild 750 will need more impeller than your 14 deg skat.

People have swapped all kinds of motors into x2's, but unless you really know what you're doing I wouldn't do anything outside of Yamaha or Kawasaki. Even swapping to Yamaha is somewhat questionable in my opinion unless you're going quite a ways beyond the "mild 750" level.

Have you done any mods to your 650? They make decent low end power. Depending on your budget and willingness to work on your ski. I would go with either a 750 kawa engine with timing advance, ported, zeeltronics, and TNT mod chamber. Or spend a little more and go with the JM781, with Zeeltronics, light flywheel, dual 46's, and TNT Mod chamber. If you want more low end have it setup with higher compression and run race gas. @JetManiac and @Blue will also help with the tuning and that alone will be worth the extra cost.

If you want a TNT mod chamber specific for the X2 (stinger location is different) let me know. I have one I picked up for my cafe racer and never used.

I actually bought the hull with no motor with the intent to get either a 750bp or 80p sxr motor but after doing research, some guys said if you can do it 61x blocks with a aingle carb can be quite torquey, but im not sure which would be more torquey of the two.

My friend has a 750 swapped x2 with a marina pipe that runs into a supertrapp waterbox, has an aftermarker head (still runs pump fuel cant remember which head it is) and a single 38mm and that thing is prettt nippy, and his prop is a skattrak #5 or #6.

So i was just curious to see if i could get mine to be a little zingier than that but if you guys thing i should run a setup close to his thats probably what ill do, although running a yami engine would be cool too.

If you have no engine go with the Yamaha 701. Either a 61x or 62t/61x (62t cases are the dual carb) or the JM781. No matter how much time and money you put in that kawa 750 it will never hit as hard as a well built Yamaha.

Okay thats what i had heard. So as far as yamaha motors go i knpw you need a 62t for twin carb set up, but ive also heard (correct me if im wrong) a single carb set up is better for low end torque or is this just a never ending debat kinda thing.
As i could probably get my hands on a 61x pretty quicky 62t might tale some time, would love to try get a JM781 but dont think ill be able to find one up in the great white north that wont cost me through the nose haha

It is all about the package, from porting, carb/intake, timing, pump and prop........... Both 61x motors can be made to work well as well as 62T. The T Cases have more ability to go to larger CC limits..........

Okay sounds good so 61x could be built up nicely and say down the road i wanted to bore it and try go for more cc down the line wouldnt be a problem just wouldnt be as much as a 62t, as if thats the case ill go grab the 61x of my friend if hes still got it

Had a 650sx. Put a small pin 750 bored 1.5mm, 175psi head, dual 40mm SXR carbs, 650 stator and flywheel. Ran both PJS and fully modded and port matched oem exhaust. 9/17 skat prop. It was good, for a kawi motor. It was not good compared to a Yami 701 based motor. I sold it and have been super happy ever since.
