Blaster My $100 Blaster Find

I've been looking for a waveblaster 1 to race the sport spec class next year and after quite a bit of searching, found one 1.5hrs from me for $100. Trailer included and papers on blaster and trailer. The ad was from over a year ago but I figured what the heck. When the PO posted it, it had no spark and hadn't moved since then. So I got it cheap just to get it out of his yard. All I really knew about it was that it had an engine (didn't know if it was locked up) but no matter the condition, I was going to buy it.

So I pull up and started looking at it. Wow. I really lucked out. Just at a glance, I could see quite a few aftermarket parts on it. So I got it home, started looking over it and checking compression. Here is what I found:
  • 61X Engine, Premix
  • 170/170 Compression
  • Factory B Pipe Header
  • Mod Pipe Chamber
  • Riva Waterbox
  • R&D Head
  • Riva Intake
  • Riva Groovy Ride Plate
  • Riva Intake Grate
  • Billet UMI Racing Throttle Lever, Block off, Fuel Selector
  • Billet Bilge & Pisser Discharge, Front/Rear Tow Eye
Planning to upgrade the steering, shave seat and repaint + new seat cover this winter. I have to get this thing running first. It still has no spark. I created a new thread here (http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/no-spark-on-93-waveblaster.166459/) with info on what I've done so far to figure it out. If you have any advice, please chime in!

EDIT: I got it running. Had a bad CDI Box. Pics and vids on page 2

Here's some pics.

Thanks guys I'm pretty excited about it. I have a new coil coming from OCD Solutions on here. I'm thinking that is why it doesn't have spark because the ohm readings on the coil in it were wayyy off. I did find an old pic of it from the guy I bought it from. I have no idea why he would paint it with a rattle can matte black when it looked nice blue but oh well. The mods done to it make me think that the owner before him knew what they were doing. I'm curious to see how it runs. One of my friends is picking up another 93 blaster this Saturday so we should have some fun with these things soon. I cleaned out the engine bay really good this weekend and will be pulling the carb off to clean it good today or tomorrow.

take some lacquer thinner and in a small inconspicuous spot see if the black wipes off. if he used cheap enough paint and didnt scuff it up it before paint with some elbow grease yo might be able to take the rattle can paint off.

That pipe makes it a very sweet deal. I recently got a pretty clean b1 $300-$200 trailer sale $100. Spent $400 more and got it up and running good. I have a dual carb swap, didnt look too close but i think i have the x/t motor. Wish mine had come with a pipe.

Runs really good after the elbow grease i put on it. Im torn on the pirces of pipe or just doing a 1200 swap.

Come ride my 1200....that'll end the indecision...

A buddy of mine built a 1100 swap and it was a great setup for ripping across the lake. Because he primarily rides waves, he felt it was too heavy and ended up going back to a 701.... Food for thought

1200 b1 is 100% a new ski for the better. Don't ride one unless you plan on making the conversion yourself.

The 1200 is my favorite motor. I have an entire gp worth of parts on the shelf for mocking up a conversion. I'd love to have that motor in everyone of my boats (except my Sj that needs the weight of course).

Going to try to put one in one of my x2. Not sure where to put the foam. Lol

Tried the lacquer thinner yesterday. It did take it off but took some time. Even with it coming off, the blue paint underneath is not the same. I have plans to remove everything out of the hull this winter so I can prep/paint inside and outside of the hull. I'll just deal with this paintjob for a couple of months.

While we are talking about the 1200 conversions.... I have someone that has been saving an XL 1200 for me for cheap. They live 4hours away though and that's the main reason I haven't gone to pick it up yet. I would like to find another Blaster to put this 1200 in though. My plans for this Blaster is to race the IJSBA Sport Spec class next year so I will probably stick with the 701 engine. I would like to find another Blaster to put this 1200 in though. I see how fun they can be with insane acceleration so maybe I'll get tired of the 701 and put it in this Blaster if I can't find another donor but I figured for the price, I can't pass up that XL 1200. I'll at least have a good 1200 powerplant.
