My 91 SN SuperJet + Full SN Winter Project

so far i removed stock turf and getting ready to install some footholds aswell diamond grey turf all around.

also i cut off the front lip of the bumper as it was damaged already,
i made streight line first leaving just under 1 inch and cut off using my jigsaw...

filed down to make it smooth and even on both sides.

what do you guys think about stock color/sticker theme ??

ditch it or keep it ??

I'm not getting into paiting, so its either replace vinyl stickers with something aftermarket, leave it plain white or leave it as is ??

let me know whats on your mind ?

thanks...

I'm kind of fond of the old school yellow/gray. I think it would look nice with grey b-stock turf. But I like the "old school yet modern look" , just look at my my avatar! :fing02:

I'd say paint it. If your getting that involved with it (turf, footholds, etc.) might as well. Plus it will add another notch to your experience belt. I painted mine and it made a world of difference. I know they say you cant polish a turd but I came out with a might shiny deuce after i slapped some paint on mine.

when ever i'm looking at the yellow stickers im getting feelings to take them off!

will consider maybe painting but what color and with rustolium or ?
would i have to sand all gelcoat surface area or not ?

i dont want to do it if its too much work...

Work? It's not work if you love doin it right? Besides your ski is your hobby therefore it should a favorite pastime of yours. As far as the paint, rustoleum? I dont know about that. I would go with something simple if you are doing it. check this site out for some ideas http://exoticsigns.com/flash/

i guess your right about the work part :)
Iv seen that site before already, not bad graphics but overpriced i think!
Is there any other places you guys know of ??

thanks....

have couple questions addressed to tom21 and anyone who has done this before and aware of the details.

I'm trying to figure out exactly where to cut to fit the RFH to the tray ?
same goes for the tubbies ?
and best way to trace and cut for perfect fit ?

also the tubbies seem to have foam on the underneath, would i apply 5200 directly over the foam or ??

here is a couple pics of the way i was to mount the RFH to the tray:

sorry was out of town for a few days with the kids.

you can put the holds anywhere you want. they are made to fit about as far back as you can go. on a round nose they will fit pretty much all the way back and clear the exhaust, you may have more room forward with a square???

yes- do put 5200 all over the back of the sponsons. or a thickened epoxy.

I hold a pencil 90 degrees to the side of the hull and trace the hold outside. you will need about 3/4 to and inch inside that to screw the hold to. so make another line that far inside. cut that line. use a saw to cut the foam at a 90 all the way to the outside, use a prybar to remove foam, trim as needed to fit hold. drill, countesink, screw, drill a hole in the top of the gunwhale, poor 2 part foam in and glass it all up. whew!

done yet? :jester:

thanks for the tips.

I have it going little by little everyday.
so far have one side cut out and ready to go, just seems as if the footholds are not exactly even flat to the tray on the top, buttom and sides, even though cut and foam is cleared! is it ok to force some side when screwing in ??
