My Daytona Pics

That beach patrol guy (on the Honda) was so damn cool.

Yeah, but from the picture it's obvious he has no frickin' clue what he's doing. You NEVER aggressively jumps waves with a life sled attached...much less in a seated position...much less in the immediate vacinity of riders like that. Thank God none of you actually needed his help, you might have been in trouble :frown:

Hey Nick - I'll bet you could really score some major brownie points with that Lifeguard/Beach Patrol group if you got Shawn Alladio to come out and train/certify them...and knowing Shawn, if she were in the area on another gig, she might just do it gratis.

Shawn Alladio kicks butt. Ever been yanked out of the surf by this gal? Man, no worries Mate she’ll have you to your pwc in seconds. Held that hand up in the air and she was there, Shawn does not mess around.

Thanks Shawn, I was one of the many. . . . . you fished out of the wake in Havasu.

In his defense, I never once saw him jump any waves. He played around in the surf, little baby surf. Every time I saw him, he was standing, and he's standing in that picture too. As far as riding in the vicinity of other riders, he was mostly off to the side out of the way of others. Not nearly as close to anyone as I was to Joe Kenny to get some helmet cam footage, or others were to each other most of the weekend.

Not trying to start any sht, just pointing out that passing judgement based on 1/10th of a second captured on a still photo is a little unfair. :)

I never felt like any of the other riders were in danger. Also, that second pic was framed that way specifically to get more riders in the shot, there were no near collisions or anything.

Just looked like a fellow rider out having fun.

Sorry, but everyone had fun, and the only injuries were self-inflicted. Good weekend to me.

I agree with Lisa ,he wasn't paying attention most of the time
I spent a lot of time observing and not riding ,unfortunately.
I thought to myself if anyone needs help quick they are screwed :scared:
At least all the riders were safe anyway and that's what counts :arms:

He actually has competed against her and beat her (his words)...... Don't diss the guy, please.. I have worked long to establish a relationship w/ these people and he is a well trained officer... trust me. He designs those sleds and was showing them off in the surf, he was not working.... Another thing.... he never came close to anyone, nor did I hear anyone complain about his riding skillz...:cool2:

a positve note: He actually sold one of his sleds at the freeride too, thanks to Paul.

I thought he was on the ball, at least until he realized we were all decent riders. I did'nt get my ski running until Sat and finally tuned Sun. When I bit it once on Sat due to lack of power, he was right up by me giving me the head nod. I nodded back and he took off.

I want to move to Daytona!:hail:

Same to me. While I had the helmet cam off I took a second to get going again. He cruised by, I gave him the thumbs up and all was good.

The lifeguard towed me in after I hit bottem hard enough to knock the waterbox off the chamber. He totally saved my but after the bow eye tow loop fell off in my hand with the rest of the nose:cussing: and then after SJBrit hooked up to the rear of me my tow rope broke when a wave came through. He threw me a rope he had and got me in safe and sound.

Sorry Lisa, This guy did know what was up. He also worked the Katrina hurricane & another training gig with Shawn. He has what it takes.

On another note, I did order one of his lifesleds, He has his own brand, & he refined it to be better & stiffer than the lifesled. I have to give him big props for all his efforts

I was under the impression that he was "off" when he brought his ski out. He was on shore 99% of the time, in his truck or chatting with all of us. I'm sure that he was aware that he was around a pretty self-sufficient group.

Okay - I've been biting my tounge on this. I didn't want to bring any negative vibe to the event, and even PM'ed Nick to apologize if that's the way it came off.

Then we got to comparing notes.....

Seems your "rescue" guy is not what he represents himself to be. Let's just say it is a very small world, and I am floored he would even think about making those sorts of claims or comments. It's not even close to being the truth. I'll let Shawn reply to the comments he made and what she see's in that pic as well if she wishes. But please don't be scammed into believing his line.

With regard to you Mr. SFL....as usual, you have no clue what you're talking about and decided to attempt to cover your imputance with a smart assed comment. When you've taken the time (most recently a solid week in November) to get certified by the best in the world, and consistently use that training in competitive and rescue/safety situations, I will start to believe you might know a little bit of wtf you're talking about. Until then, please keep your uneducated piehole shut.

I love the rest of you guys - and it may have looked fine to you...but I guess the only way you would have known what you didn't have there, was if you'd needed some serious help. I'm just very glad it never came to that.

thanks lisa... i totally respect your views and shawns as well... I would never doubt that what you say is correct... With that said... let's let this go... I don't want to clutter up the event w/ negatives.... We dodged a bullet w/ this one and I don't want to talk about what bad things could have happened... Cause it really doesn't matter now...

We came, we rode, we had fun.....:Banane01: :Banane01: :Banane01:

You are not a rescue professional, nor am I, and neither of was in Daytona riding either, so I'd say neither of us can really comment on how safe the riders were. Firsthand reports say he was helping people out, and that they felt safer with him around and not threatened, so I'll leave it at that.
